I purchase a lot of Victoria's Secret products. While the lotions maintain the scent, the splashes go bad after about a year.

It's going to depend on the particular lotion and how you store it. Heat is never a good idea as it will speed up the process. Lotions don't so much expire as they separate after a few years. I had a bottle of Glow lotion that did that to me. After two years it still smelled good but the it became much thinner. If it's something you use semi-regularly you probably won't have a problem though. Perfumes will evaporate over time but I've never had one go bad on me.

The oils in lotions, etc can deteriorate over time, and change. Some of them can even smell rancid! Since every product is different, there really isn't a set time, but a lot of products have expiration dates on the bottle/tube.

They dont expire if you keep the caps on. I've had my perfume and lotion for a year, it still smells amazing just like new =D And it has a little to do with the tempature you keep it in, never keep it in a car or somewhere hot.
If you need anymore help tell me :]
