I used dark brown and I think it looks great. It makes the switches & outlets just disappear. They were easy to find at Home Depot.

I am a big fan of consistency, so I'd use whatever kind of cover plates are in the rest of the house. Otherwise a metal finish (whichever metal you have elsewhere in the room) or an off-white would work. You have dark walls and furniture with light carpet, so I'm guessing it looks pretty contrasty in there. Some medium-toned golds, light browns, or greens for curtains or rugs would fill in some color gaps and lessen the contrast. Light colored curtains would really pop off a dark wall, so if you go that route, make sure you like them!

I would use the color that complements the bronze best. You can get black, beige, white, and ivory - I like ivory.
* tip - buy all the switches you need at once, so they'll all match [ stores change styles and suppliers ]
