Ummmm Limits and fits to me (machinist)

limits are your tolerances some can be standard say for threads, tap drills, keyways ect. Or they can be a limit off a blueprint.

fits are again tolerances that are standards like
slip fit
press fit
loose fit

machinist handbook is full of limits and fits.Blue print reading and gdt books have lots of information. Good luck doing htis in 24 hours. You can take 5 credit classes on just this subject :)

Limits are used in computer program to prevent telling the computer to do an impossible math function . Like dividing some no. by zero.
The Fits are used in the checking of satellite tracking data . Often u will do a fit on the data before u put it into the data results . If it follows the expected curve and is off a little it is possible good data. At one time it was obvious that the data from Fairbanks was not fitting so we could not use the data . The tracking antennas was getting ice forming in the cables and antenna. Replaced the air drier with a special drier that dried the air to -100 deg.F.
