I only started getting migraines quite recently, have been to doctor. Usually they are predictable with visual symptoms for about 1/2 hr or so before the headache starts, but have now noticed I sometimes have the visual aura but without the headache, or just a very mild headache that comes and goes over a few days. Is this normal?

Absolutely.I have had migraines for 60 years. They have varied quite a bit in this time.Originally I had an aura with disturbed vision, numbness around my lips and nose, with tingling in my fingers.and followed by a not too bad headache.Over the years it has al;tered a bit.I no longer get the numbness. I get the visual disturbances and flashing lights for about a half an hour, sometimes nearly losing all my sight, then followed by a mild headache or no headache at all.I can go a few weeks with no attacks then a period when I have 3 or 4 a day for a week.I don't bother to take anything for it.I have just learned to live with it .

I'd say yes. I have the visual aura without the headaches. In fact, I have never had a severe headache that could be classified as migraine. I have had slight headaches that come and go. To me, I think I'd rather have the headache than the visual disturbance, which is for me, much worse.

I have been suffering from migraines for over ten years, and yes, that is normal for me. Migraines or different for each person, but there are days when I get auras and nothing else. Or I'll get a migraine and have no auras beforehand. You should ask your doctor to send you to a good neurologist to get this checked out, as migraines can be treated quite ea silly now a days. Some great medications are maxalt MLT (it's a soltab, works very quick), and migrinal, which is a nasal spray that works miracles. Good luck with your migraines!

Migraines really don't make any sense, I've had them for almost 6 years and I still can't figure them out. Did you tell your doctor these symptoms? I say, if the headache part doesn't come, good! You'd get no complaints from me.

my wife suffers really bad with migraines and has just spent 3 days in bed with them. she doesn't know when it is going to happen no warning signs, they just full on bless her. The only way of getting of it by going to the docs and having a anti flammortory injection , tabs.

I get those too. It's normal to see your aura without getting that terrible headache. It's also normal to have blind spots too.

Yes it is. I get them all the time and it freaks me out. The headaches are just unbearable.

Sounds like you're experiencing vertigo. All that is is seeing spots and blurred vision with diziness. It's ok, though, Nothing to worry about.
