Everyone in the world would have to be involved on getting rid of terrorists. We can't let politics get in the way, when a group of terrorists are spotted, we collectively as a human race, should use an iron fist and stop them then. All countries should freeze bank accounts of terror organizations, without money its hard to organize anything. All countries need stiff punishment for aiding terrorists. It would take all the countries in the world to collectively work together to put an end to terrorism.

Overall there isn't a real way to stop terrorism since there will always be hatred between people in any scale which can lead to terrorism. What, suppose the only way to stop terrorism is to wipe out all the terrorist and showing authority or make this a perfect world where every one is equal and every one agrees and gets what they want.

1) Make friends around the world instead of making enemies. Reach out to those countries that we've alienated and show them that we're ready to work with them for the common good.

2) Encourage international cooperation between intelligence agencies in different countries so we can keep better track as terrorists move from country to country planning their little schemes.

3) Help out developping nations, help them with things like clean drinking water, food and medicine. You'd be amazed how many people resent the US for being so wealthy and ignoring things like Darfur and all the dying and suffering in Africa.

Thats only the beginning, but those are the main things we should be doing. We should accept that there will never be an end to terrorism. But we can address the root causes of why people want to commit terrorist attacks against us.

Stopping terrorism completely is not realistic. First, one would have to define terrorism. There are several types of terrorism: Political, economic, medical and environmental.

As long as people have different views there will always be people willing to use violence or force to try annd achieve thier goals.

However, to answer your question, I would suggest trying to understand the ideaology that attracts indviduals to become memebers of terrorist groups.

Terrorism is a tactic used to effect political change. You terrorize a populace, then make demands, if they don't meet your demands, you ratchet up the terrorism, if they do meet your demands, you make additional demands, re-inforced with addtional terrorist attacks at the same level as has been working, as needed.

For instance, in 1993, terrorists set of a car bomb at the WTC. Thier demands were not met. So they made additional, and progressively more ambitious attacks around the world until they finally got back around to the WTC and succeeded wildly.

At least one demand made by Al Qaeda - that the US pull it's bases out of Saudi Arabia has been met - and the intensity of attacks has not escalated.


An alternative to nuckling under to terrorists is to establish a deterent. Just as having a nuclear deterent force targetting a potential enemy can deter them from attacking you directly, establishing sufficently extreme negative consequences for acts of terrorism would deter the tactic of using such acts to gain concessions.

There might still be 'spoilsport' terrorist attacks - but they wouldn't be accompanied by real demands, for fear of retaliation, and they therefor couldn't be successul at bringing about the desired results. An ineffectual tactic is rarely persued as enthusiastically as one that gets results.

If the whole world converted to Wahhabi Islam, forbid freedom of religion, relegated women to an inferior role in society. If banking were banned (because it resembles gambling, and is therefore *****) and the world were transformed politically and economically to an absolute socialist theocracy where all forms of individuality were strictly punished, such as art (any depiction of a living thing is *****), theater, movies, music and stories about love or romance. If all homosexuals and adulterers were stoned to death in the street, including young girls who even look and smile at a boy. If all traces of all religions except Islam were obliterated, including razing churches, burning bibles, blowing up Buddha statues and tearing down shrines.

Then, by the point of view of the Islamists, we would be living in a paradise and terrorism would no longer be necessary.

All we have to do is give them what they want and we can all live in peace.

Okay, so terrorist are people who scare you, or cause TERROR. So, when you see a guy with a gun oproaching you car at night, your terrified!!! So is he a terrorist? Yes, in my opinion he is. But terrorist as in suicidal bombers and people like that? Are you crazy!?!?!?! you can't get rid of terrorism. It's like world peace. It can never happen and be maintained for a long time. it makes me laugh when i see the concern you guys in the states have about terrorism when for decades your administration has actively supported terrorists in Nicaragua and Cambodia and Northern Ireland. For years in the UK we were terrorised by a US funded IRA who indiscriminately bombed and shot innocent in England. They stopped when the funding stopped. If you look at most of the terror organisations in this world they are funded by the US or friends of the US like Saudi Arabia. So simply put cut their funding and they can't buy their bombs and their bullets and their guns.
