My wife and I applied for passports on March 3rd, and we leave on May 20th. Thats 12 weeks. The post office rep saidf there was no need to expedite, "that's plenty of time". The status online is 'processing' and has been since the first week in April. Today is May 12th, and nothing. We have been trying to call for an appointment, but there are none available from now until our departure date. is there anything else i can do? the phone number they give is garbage, and the website is close to useless.

You can check the status of pasports online... I was in the same position when I applied for my passport... go to this site and follow these links... www.usa.gov -->Travel and Recreation --> Passports --> Passport Application Time --> Check status... they will ask you for information and give you a date that it is expected to arrive... my passport was in the mail the day the website said... get a hold of the supervisor at the place you applied - they have their own e-mail and phone numbers to the passport center that has your applications - they can correspond with the customer service manager of the passport center that has your applications and might put some juice in the process.

Contact your state congress person. Yesterday there was a case like that on the Arizona news and the were able to expedite the case for that lady and she had in just on time.
