I have had pain on my shoulder for about a year now and it sometimes hurts soooo much that i can't lift my arm up. Does anyone know what it might be or what I might do to help. I currently take IBUPROFIN 600 mlgms. That is what the Doctor gives me....but he never does anything else. Im tired of taking the drugs and don't want it to have a bad effect on me in the future. Any suggestions?

Your primary care doctor clearly isn't taking you seriously. Either that, or he is downright lazy. The physical examination, for RoM (range of motion), the AC joint, muscle atrophy, etc etc for a suspected shoulder injury, can be done in 2 mins flat, and will reveal whether you have a soft tissue injury such as rotator cuff or glenoid tear.
If you have an injury of this type, raising your arm above your head or rotating the arm will be likely to be provocative. And you will not easily resist downward pressure on an extended, palm-down, limb.
A small tear will heal with rest, but, as you have had a worsening experience for a year now its likely you need treatment. MRI/CT with injection of contrast medium (i.e. an arthrogram) can reveal small (but painful!) tears. There is also a bursa in the shoulder, which may have become aggravated.
The required treatment may simply be image-guided steroid injection - or may be surgery. The procedure is not, these days, 'open surgery' but laparoscopic ('keyhole') technique. Recovery/ rehab is as little as 3-4 weeks. The risks of not having it done include (ultimately) a torn or severed ligament so it worth getting yourself properly assessed.

You could have a torn rotator cuff. Try and get an MRI so the Dr. can actually see what's wrong. It can happen at any age.

have the MRI to make sure nothing is torn, if it is you need surgery if not, then get to a Bowen therapist we have over a 95% success rate with relieving shoulder pain and restrictions.
