If you have thick/heavy hair, I would suggest to try layers first. My hair's down to the small of my back (almost to my waist) and I had it layered last year. I don't have very thick hair, but it's alot and knowing from experience that chopping it makes me feel light-headed for a couple days, and adjusting to new maintenance habits so suddenly took me a few weeks. Contrary to popular belief, layers don't have to take a lot of work. If you want, just try layers in front, so you can only see a difference, and if you happen to like one of the lengths to cut the rest of your hair to, then you can do that!

Good luck! I hope that you end up liking whatever you do, and that you won't regret it. But hey. It's hair. It grows back!

I can't tell you what style haircut to get, since I don't know what your face shape is or what you like, but I can suggest that you either look up Locks of Love on the internet or ask the beautician to donate it on your behalf. It's a wonderful charity.
