Hi. Looks like you have plenty of reasons not to buy Bose from the other guys so i will leave it there ! If you want a really top Hi Fidelity Surround Sound Theater there is only one way to go . First of all you don't need a Surround Sound Receiver .The sound quality is not good enough (some will disagree)What we need is a separate Surround Sound Preamplifier Processor and a high quality Power Amp By having two amps the signal is cleaner with less degredation buy not sharing the same circuits for different applications..NAD make very musical amplifiers which are designed in Great Brittain. and assembled in the east.

The choice of loudspeakers is not so easy because they all add their own coloration to the sound..Basically they can be divided into two groups. Speakers that emphasize the treble in relation to the midrange and bass. And speakers that are more neutral sounding with no emphasis of any frequencies.

I have made a few suggestions which i hope will help you to decide.

No!, i do not own this system but i have had the severe displeasure of hearing it. Im an audiophile so i hate the sound of bose compared to my 2 chanel audio setup. BOSE is the biggest lie in home theater today, when people see the name bose they automatically think this is the best audio equipment there it, they couldent be more wrong i dont know who started to runor bose is good but its a funny one.

anyways heres a good stereo that will blow the bose away.
if money isant that much of an object to you.

Subwoofer- Velodyne DLS-3750R

I do use a Velodyne Subwoofer for my audiophile setup and think that there the best audiophile subwoofers. They have the tightest bass And hit low but not that "trashy ghetto" bass like some subs this is smooth good quality bass thats enjoyable by audiophiles.

Reciever- (to power all those monster speakers)

Yamaha RX-V1700 $1,199.95

i love yamaha recievers because of the neutral accurate sound.

I got the Lifesyles Bose and it sounds great but it cost a little over 1600 the lil rear speakers really kick for the price although thought the VCS 10 middle front would sound a little better than it does.Saw the spealer the 3rd answerer gave and its about the same price as bose 601s reflecting speakers and seriouly doubt as good.

If it's connected properly its quite dynamic in a meduim or small room, its not a large room system.
