most tanning salons sell the long-handled lotion applicators...or this is what i do: put the lotion on the back of your hand & run it up your back...that`s how i apply all my body lotions, tanning lotions, etc., because obviously i`m not gonna have someone with me every time i need to put lotion on!!!

Great question. No easy answer for that one. I know they do make something with a long handle to put lotion on your back. I may have seen something at Linen's and Things. Also, try one of the bath or lotion stores. As far as going on evenly, well...it's worth a shot. You may want to try a self tanner with a bronzer in it so you can get a sense of where you've already applied self tanner. Good luck!
