In Psalm 37:4- it says- "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you desires of your heart".
Something came to me recently that I want to share, and was wondering your opinions on this.
If we truly seek after God we will only want what God wants for us- so the desires of our hearts will be His and He will grant those. God does not always give us what we want, but if we delight in Him, and love Him and please Him, then our desires will only be for Him. What are your thoughts?

WOW- I did not mean to become so popular with the unbelievers today- and by the way your sarcasm does not bother me in the least- why? Because God said that people would ridicule us from our belief. Are there any Christians out there that want to share their feelings?

Thanks Biblechick- there is a Christian out there who desires to delight in God. And for anymore that do- even if you do not agree with me about this passage- that is ok.

Thanks for the kind remark Sempre Fi, however I would be lying if I said I always do this. We all have days of doubting, so just keep trusting!! My desire is to always delight in Him, that does not mean I always do.

Actually, I just thought about that the other day, something new I learned. I always wondered why people didn't get what they wanted if they were really Christians. That verse and a verse in John, the one that says "Ask anything in my name and I will give to you" john 14:14 i think. Those two verses, with some help from my church and God, I realized that when you are truly one with Christ, you will have the same desires as he will and your prayers will be in accordance with his will. Great point, interesting that I saw it here only days after learning it. Must be important! :-) Thanks for sharing, God Bless!

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

It's not always WHEN we want things either.
I have learnt that God's timing is perfect.

I look back over my life, and for some things I have had to wait a long time to see them happen, but if the Lord had given me at those times, looking back - i can see that the timing would have been wrong. His ways are always perfect!

I agree. A person who is truly delighting in the Lord is aligning his/her interests, wants and desires with God's. He loves to answer those sorts of requests.
Too often people desire selfish things -help me, bless me, give me. Instead, we should ask to love others more than ourselves, to know God better and to be blessing to those around me.

If you delight yours self in the Lord he will give you the desires

of your heart

Our heart's desire should be on the things of God

and his righteousness and we will be truly happy

The term "lord" is an old latin word meaning "master of the slaves". God created man to be free, he hates slavery. And you do what god wants you to do, whether you know of it or not, whether you agree or not, whether you want to or not, you are doing exactly as god designed you to do, you are a beacon of his success. You do consider god to be successful, do you not? Exercising your freedom and creative ability is your only duty under god, you cannot escape the meaning and purpose for which you exist.

All of the people who do not know God is depressing isn't it? I feel sorry for Jesus who did so much for so many and got so little in return. I feel sorry for the Heavenly Father who watched his son suffer so horribly and then see the people spit in his face. It is truly sad.

Cool, I absolutely agree. I wish everyone would stop and smell the roses. People are getting farther and farther from God and that bothers me. Jesus is the only reason we have any hope and most people won't give Jesus the time of day. This makes me sad.
