Better traction on soft surfaces only! Mud & sand typically. Only lower your tire pressure by about 10 lbs from recommended. This increases the surface displacement. Happy Trails!

the lower the tire pressure the larger the contact area. the more of your tire that contacts the ground the better the traction you will have. it also makes the tire more flexable as well and it will mold to the terrain you are going up or across or down or whatever. i would not reccomend traveling on roads that you will reach speeds over 30 mph as the bead on the rim may pop and you could lose control of your vehicle. if you are off-roading make sure you have a way to re-inflate your tires to the proper pressures that the manufacturer reccomends for travel.
have fun.

Some say that this will give you more traction but in my experience it will only help rough Terrain pull tires off the rims. I do know that it can help you stay up on the surface instead of sinking in sand.

Lowering the tire pressure allows more of the tire to contact the ground. It also gives you better traction.

you will get better traction because the foot print of the tire becomes bigger.
