I got hit by a hook kick (semi-contact) and it hit pretty hard. At first I had trouble hearing but that all went away but I still have a kink in my neck and my jaw clicks and feels a little off centre. I'm deciding whether to see the Doctor or will it go away on it's own?

You should be safe and go see a doctor, you could have done any numbe of things and it is always better to get it checked and make sure everything is okay, you could have done something strange that needs to be looked at, especially where your jaw doesnt feel right and you had dtrouble hearing, I ould play it safe and go get it checked before it gets wors or something major happens, better safe then sorry.

I got hit by a car once (4 real) my head spider'd their windshield and I don't even independently remember being hit but I had a sore neck and couldn't eat quite right for 3 months but all I had x-rayed was my leg (broke left tibia) and everything else healed up just fine. That was in Nov. 2005. And my jaw has never quite been on center since I got my permanent canines anyway.

However if it bothers you a lot then you should get assurances from someone with a Ph.D and not a dude like me that is just barely working on a bachelor's that you aren't seriously injured.

Maybe! It sounds like you may have a slight dislocation of your jaw and you need to get it checked out. Also some neck problems are a possibility if it was strong enough to move your jaw out of alignment. If it happened in training at your studio contact the owner. Most states require insurance (if you don't have insurance yourself). If this happened in a tournament most are required to carry some type of insurance also. If this happened in the studio and its happened to others I would certainly say something to the owner also-you will be doing him a favor in the long run. I have taught martial arts for almost 30 years, including full-contact, submission fighting, jiu-jutsu and sport karate and while injuries like this do happen they should be few unless someone is not following the rules or someone is not maintaining the proper amount of control when fighting.
Also was the other fighter wearing safety gear and where you wearing a mouth piece. Good mouthpieces for $15.00-$25.00 carry a small insurance writer and deductible with them for this kind of situation and also help to prevent it. In my studio safety gear is mandatory as are mouth pieces and headgear and if you and the other students are learning how to kick, punch, and strike with good speed and power then a certain amount of control will be necessary even with safety gear and mouth pieces.

This is a very common effect that fighters get all the time. I never went to the doctor, but that is not to say that you shouldn't. If it bothers you that much, then have it checked out just to be sure.

If you are able to chew and swallow food, I don't think it's a big deal. You probably got some tendons stretched a little. They will usually get back to normal in a week or two.

After just about every one of my fights, I had to drink soup through a straw for a few days following the fight. No big deal, just part of the fun of being a fighter.

Many of the above experts explicitly stated their credentials and that the heel is the contact area of choice. I disagree. Go and do a hook kick 10 times as hard as you can with your heel. If you have not injured your achille's or any part of your heel after that, then sure the heel... But If you practice with the bottom of your foot--or better yet the ball of your foot I'm sure you will be able to kick hard enough that anyone you knocked out won't be able to tell the difference. Additionally you will have increased your kicking range ever slightly. Train smarter, not harder.

This has happened to me before. I went to my parents' chiropractor and they massage the kink right out of your neck. They will teach you some massages to do to your own neck, then you come back in a week for a check up.

Sore neck will go away. The crackin on the jaws... NEVER! I had it for 3 years. It ok, you get used to it. It doesnt bother you, in fact I crack my jaws lik I crack my fingers. It doesnt hurt, feel good, or get addicting (lik crackin fingers). The first 2 months, it might be really annoying,

i would get a massage therapist to fix that, dislodged muscles do not easily heal themselves, especialy in such a complicated mechanism.

I had jaw problems and this skilled massage therapist i know was able to fix them in a a few seconds.

each time i get my neck hurt, i just copy what she did to me. It would be too complicated to give an explicit going through of this though, so i would recommend finding a good massage therapist.

I recommend an X-ray. Their could be something cracked or displaced. If so, without treatment, you are likely to have permanent damage.
