Lindsey, Atheists are very quick to put down Christians in general so I am just putting it back in thier lap in the same general terms they use,if you are afraid of the question it is evidence that you doubt your whole belief system. I am not christian either but I can answer this question with out even thinking about it.

Most of you were unable to answer the question with out side stepping or rambling on which is exactly what I knew you would do.FACT atheists have no foundation for what they believe, if you did at least 1 of you out of 39 would have answered this question "atheist" and then given me a logical explanation why, but 0% of you did, remember I am not a christian but I could answer this question. It bothers me that TRUE Christianity stands for love and every one is desperately bashing it and calling Christians crazy. Next time you have an opportunity to put someone down for believing that maybe somwhere out there in this infinite universe there is someone or some thing that is more intelligent than us look at your own belief systen , or lack there of before you put down thiers and the rest of you, get off the band wagon of putting other people's beliefs down if you haven't taken the time to really develop your own.Now put that in your corn cob pipe and smoke it you frosty son of a *****.

CHRISTIAN DEFINITELY

Well, I don't believe that I'm an atheist, but I have had trouble answering those who ask me,"If God exists, then where is he?".
Honestly, though, if I was in this situation, I would probably get in the car immediately, lock the doors and get on the cell phone to 911 or some other emergency service ASAP. I wouldn't have to walk to any phone booth because my cell phone should work just fine, thankyou.

To answer your question is some detail, though, I'd definitely rather they be Christian. Even if they turned out to be violent or fanatical christians in any way, they could at least be convicted that what violence they commited was wrong. Whereas if they were atheists, then they just believe whatever they want to believe and who cares what you think, right? Then you'd be at the mercy of the chaos that these atheists knowingly or unknowingly advocate, and who wants that? Not me. Peace loving Christians, please, thankyou very much!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just some food for thought here.

But, somehow, I also agree with those here who say they don't care as long as they are kind and could help me. It wouldn't cross my mind what religion they are. They could easily "call" themselves Christians and not do what Christ told us to do, if effect they are liars, and knowingly or unknowingly commit apostasy - renunciation of faith.

That is completely irrelevant to what type of person they are. There are Christians out there just as cold hearted as some non Christains, and there are some atheists who live more moral lives than some Christians do. And the other way around. A persons personal beleifs do not always reflect the type of person that they are. That's discrimination and stereotyping. I am not a Christian, but I would do as much as I could to help anyone in need.

Definitely the atheists. Five male atheists in their early twenties out at night? Three of them will have Leathermans, at least one will actually know something about fixing cars, and someone will know the number for the nearest tow truck place that's open this late.

Five male Christians in their early twenties out late at night? Good Christians are in bed (or working a third) at this hour. These five are gangbangers or worse.

So guys in their early 20's, in groups of 4 or more, are necessarily up to no good? If they are Christians? If they are Atheists?

Do you think a group of 5 women in their early 20's couldn't possibly be as dangerous?

Ill-defined question.

By 'Christian', do you mean any anti-social criminal who gets 'Jesus' when he's up for parole, or somebody who really does try to love their neighbor?

By 'atheist', do you mean some dumb thug who never had a spiritual thought in his life, or do you mean a thoughtful person who became a secular humanist after a prolonged period of soul-searching because he had moral issues with organized religion?

I've seen plenty of statistics that show that the percentage of atheists in prison is lower than in society in general. If that's true, then your odds would be better going with the atheists.

Being a Christian doesn't automatically make you a good person. Ex: There's famous gangsters and murderers who claim(ed) they're Christians. They say that society just doesn't understand their way of life and that God will forgive them simply because they wear a cross. I know many atheists with more morals than most "Christians."

I've had three times in my life where I was stuck on a road with no way to call for help and had to depend on the kindness of strangers. The worst was when I had my 18 month old daughter in the car and the engine caught fire.

All three times I started praying for safety.

All three times it was a Christian who stopped to help me.

Atheists.

We are the most under represented group in prison populations. They are 50X less likely to end up there if they are atheists. So the odds are pretty good.

Besides, I have a concealed permit. I am not that worried period.

How would that make a difference, I have seen christians as well as atheists being bad while at the same time atheists as well as christians being good.

They are all christians only christians run around in groups of 5 late at night. Atheists tend not to be large group types to begin with because they are pretty anti herd mentality.
