you will gain weight.
sit ups dont burn fat - they build muscle. your belly will look bigger since there is gona be more muscle underneath the layer of fat.
cardio is the only way to burn fat - 4-6 times a week for 30-50min combined with light weight training.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

None. Losing weight is a function of Diet and Exercise. In my experience it's about 80% diet and 20% exercise. You need to Cut your caloric in take to 1500 calories a day (5 - 300 calorie meals a day) and do moderate exercise and you will loose weight the healthy way. To maintain your weight loss you must stick to a balanced diet of about 1500 to 2000 calories a day and have daily moderate exercise. Don't rush weight loss, just do diet and exercise and the weight will come off. When you hit a plateau make small changes to keep things going

you will not lose a lot of weight. Sit ups do not burn a lot of calories. It takes only 2-3 minutes to do 100 sit-ups, so it won't do much.
They are great for toning, and you should do them, but try doing at least 20-30 min of cardio, if you're trying to lose weight.

Well it depends if you are going to change you eating habits aswell. If your not then I would say that you will probably lose 5-10 pounds, if you are changing your eating habits (eating less) you'll probably lose about 10-15 because doing sit-ups just tones your belly and doing them doesn't necessarily mean you'll lose that much weight.

You'd gian a lot of muscle, and you'd burn a lot of fat, so your actual weight wouldn't go down much.

Also, you'd lose more weight if you're really fat than if you only need to shed a couple pounds.

Lastly, I tried doing 56 (my lucky number) sit-ups per day, and I hated it so much that I quit

That would be extremely unlikely to lead to weight loss unless combined with reduction in your calories and/or other, more lengthy exercises.

It also has a very good chance of giving you back pain. Moderation in all things.

situps just tone your muscles. Cardio makes abdomen fat go away. It's good to do a combination of both .You're off to a good start.

if ur trying to make your stomach smaller then its not gonna work becuase u can do 100000 sit ups and ur stomach wont get smaller becuase ur building up muscles under ur fat so its making ur stomach look thicker..
