You can find Cream of Tartar in Baking Aisle with other spices/flavors like Nutmeg etc. In Meijer it costs $2.79cents; in Target it is 2:19. You can find in Wal-Mart too (sorry don't know the price).

Wow, where do you live? lol
Most all grocery stores around here have Cream of Tarter, it's very common. Even Wal-Mart stores with the grocery section carry it.
Your recipe probably calls for baking soda as well because Cream of Tartar and baking soda usually react together. Baking powder is just a combination of the two, so if you have baking powder, try using that.

I think you have your answer :))
Cream of tartar is a white powder and any grocer should carry it. It is in the baking aisle filed with the spices. All the major brands of spices carry a cream of tartar:)
Hope your cake turns out :)

Cream of Tartar is a powdered "spice". Not a liquid as you might think according to the name. It is in the spice isle. Did you know that if you have a cancer sore, cream of tartar will help to heal it? Wet the very end of your finger and get a little on the end of you finger and apply to sore.
Have a good day!

I have never been to a grocery store that did not sell cream of tarter. Sometimes it is only in the little cans but it's there.

It's in most grocery stores.
It's in the baking aisle where sugar , flour etc is.
But it's with the spices and flavorings.

Any store that has a baking/spice aisle. Safeway, Albertsons, Hy-Vee, Publix, Piggly Wiggly, anyplace that's bigger than the local bodega.
