As a Diest, I do not follow a religion, but I see wonderful traits in all religions and belief systems. I may not agree with all their ways of thinking but that's okay. My quesiton is why can't we all just forget about our differences and come together as one? When it comes down to it we are all united in the fact that we are humans and that we have hearts and emotions. Is it really so worth it to hate your fellow man simply because he believes different than you?

Sure there are those who try and impose they're beliefs on others (I'm not a fan, but their intentions are good), but do we really need to get up in arms about it? How about we start a movement where we just accept one another and show tolerance towards everyone?

Yeah it's kind of hippie-ish, but as jimmy in south park would say, "it's like come on"

tolerance also requires Patience. the journey to tolerance Patience and love is not an easy one, by being willing to take that path you will improve your life and the lives of those around you. Every thing that improves life on earth is worth the effort.

knitwit... The problem with tolerance is this: there are some things you tolerate. And you expect everyone else to tolerate them, too. Otherwise, you deem them as intolerant. You are, by definition, intolerant yourself. I don't hate people who believe differently than me. I simply disagree with them. That's what I mean. Hatred and disagreement are not the same thing. And I wish people would stop trying to make them the same. What if you were in a relationship with someone who believed in having multiple sex partners, but you were the exclusive type. You might love them, but does that mean you accept what they do without question? You might. You might not. But not everything is acceptable just because someone believes it is. Are we tolerant enough to respect those who exercise their right to disagree with the concept of tolerance? Not yet, apparently.

A good question, a crucial issue and a respectable wishful-thinking... yes wishful thinking :-)

Allow me to make few things clear. If under a capitalistic/secular system where all that matters is money and profit then that might.. just might be workable to a certain extent but, if under a system based on religion, true morality and true righteousness, then that would be unpractical and counterproductive.

We all know that we all are facing an inevitable challenge in life, the challenge of Truth vs. falsehood, good vs. evil, right vs. wrong, righteousness vs. corruption, justice vs. injustice, peace vs. transgression. There is one Truth and one rightful religion while there are countless versions which happens to contain some Truth. If we are careless and irresponsible, we will end up on the wrong path and the wrong religion.

Freedom, peace, justice, and democracy go hand in hand and according to the sacred book and the Islamic religion, they all are sacred and fundamental concepts/values but, we need to be aware of the fact that there is a big difference between tolerance and hypocrisy.

It is inevitable that people will make different choices in life and that is their GOD-given choice. When those who believe that they have made the right choice know that others are making the wrong choice that leads to evil, injustice and corruption then it is natural and inevitable that they would and should distant themselves from such path and from such people who are wrong and evil infested and cause all kinds of corruption. People have the right and responsibility to protect and preserve their believe and their values.

Deserving GOD'S guidance, enough to realize the truth and living a righteous life of fulfilling our sacred duty to Him and worshiping Him as the one and only GOD and avoiding the devastating Satan and his allies is a major serious challenge.

The main thing it to UPHOLD AND MAINTAIN peace... not accepting other people's believes or considering it or them as evil does not give us the right to transgress against them.

Extending a hand of compassion and guidance and providing other people with enough proper chance to amend their way while they are being under the influence of ignorance and the influence of Satan and his allies without compromising our good and righteous way of life is a good thing to do.

Ultimately, if we are good, then we should be good enough to uphold and maintain peace and the ultimate judgment belong to the one and only GOD in the day of judgment.

When I became a mother I learned the true meaning of tolerance and love! I stand in the middle between both!
Coming together as one will take everyone putting in a effort and having acceptance.

Tolerance vs. Love

Tolerance says, "You must approve of what I do."

Love responds, "I must do something harder:

I will love you even when your behavior offends me."

Tolerance says, "You must agree with me."

Love responds, "I must do something harder:
I will tell you the truth,
because I am convinced 'the truth will set you free.'"

Tolerance says, "You must allow me to have my way."

Love responds, "I must do something harder:
I will plead with you to follow the right way,
because I believe you are worth the risk."

Tolerance seeks to be inoffensive;

Love takes risks.

Tolerance glorifies division;

Love seeks unity.

Tolerance costs nothing;

Love costs everything.
