It will continue to be illegal until the government can harness it, put a tax on it, and make money. Think about it, alcohol and cigarettes are legal, cause they make money! They are still figuring out a way to profit off of it.

probability is it quite is no longer weed in any respect, yet is incredibly a criminal organic selection. As for unlawful weed, maximum persons interior the united kingdom get a product which has been decrease, fiddled with and is under no circumstances what it says on the tin. on an identical time as i do no longer smoke the stuff myself, I do think of it could be bought with the aid of pharmacists, so as that there is not any probability of contaminants being further, and customers must be provided help to kick the habit in the event that they had to. it would additionally provide up those idiots from fiddling their electric powered so that they could strengthen the stuff. I certainly have visited six residences the place hashish is grown interior the final 365 days, and the persons interior do no longer comprehend which you will smell the kit from the line. Amusingly those have been absolutely everyone of their 20s, who stay among pensioners, that's why they have on no account been caught.

There is NOTHING wrong with weed. Do not believe what people tell you because there is no conclusive scientific evidence to prove anything negative after over 60 years of lab tests in every country on the planet. The only reason it is illegal is because the government doesn't know how to market, regulate, and sell it. Also, unlike alcohol where a BAC can be measured, there is no way to measure the amount of weed someone has consumed at a particular time. THC stays in the stomach lining long after someone smokes so a breathalizer, pee test or blood test would be inconclusive at the moment it is being taken.
I don't smoke weed because it is illegal and I won't risk losing my career over it. My friends and I are all waiting until retirement day.

Well, this is my touchy subject. Marijuana needs to be legal. For one, it would generate enough revenue for the government that they could stop whining about the deficit. As a person who grew up with an alcoholic, I'd much rather deal with a pothead. Remember when there was a prohibition on alcohol? That passed and so should this antiquated idea that marijuana is any more harmful than any of the legal things people can do. It is legal for people to bungee jump - does that mean it is good for them?
Cigarettes are legal and it doesn't even make you feel good when you smoke them. At least with marijuana, you can feel good while you fill your lungs with something that could kill you.
For you atheists who search for the answers of those who oppose you, yes I believe people should be able to choose whether or not to smoke pot. We are free to choose just about anything else. We can kill babies and fool ourselves into thinking that it is a right of some kind when someone other than the "carrier" of the foreign body kills the baby, like in a traffic accident, they can be charged with manslaughter of the child. How stupid this society is!
And the idea that smokers are lazy, non-productive, and ignorant is just a myth. Some have accomplished a lot. Maybe they could have accomplished more had they not smoked pot but who knows? We can't see that either. No use in believing it. I'd rather work with someone who smokes pot and does their job than someone who doesn't smoke pot and thinks they shouldn't have to do their job because there are smokers who can do the work.
What do you people do in your real life? Oh and this comment is not directed at the asker but to the answerers.
Look at this from a non-smoker - "It is addictive!! and kills brain cells..Iwhat idiots you been talkin to?....I affects your brain big time"
Does that seem like all brain cells are in proper working order in that person's head? This should be written as "It is addictive and it kills brain cells. What idiots have you been talking to? It affects your brain in a significant way."

Weed is not as illegal as everyone is making it out to be. I am a nurse and we actually had a patient with brain damage that we had admitted who did nothing but hollar "oh help me" there was nothing that we could give him that would calm him down. We did get an order from a Dr which was written out for a medication which was the pill form of marijuana. We gave it to him for a few days but it did not work so he was taken off of it. The reason it was ordered was to see if it might calm him down some but it did not. So there is actually a legal pill form of it that the public is unaware of and I have heard of talk of it being made legal which I am totally against.

It's not good. It's just not so bad. Drinking is actually more dangerous. The reason it's illegal is because when prohibition happened, they made all drugs and alcohol illegal. Because there were companies that nwanted to make money off of booze, they paid off the government to leglize it again. They kept weed illegal. That still doesn't mean its good and it doesn't mean you should do it. It really does make you lazy and it's still against the law!
EDIT
Actually, no, it doesn't kill brain cells. The THC soaks into the fat in your brain and gives you a high.
EDIT again
And no, it's not a gateway drug. Marijuana is in no way, shape, or form realted to anything like crack or pcp. They're 2 compeltely different things and the brain doesn't crave these kinds of drugs after you do marijuana. It's all about political economics. The governemt actually sells drugs to reduce inflation, but keeps us from buying them because it would take the money away from the government. It's very complex but all you ened to know is that it's a double-standard.

While the weed is actually an Herb,it does have many medical properties. It helps me with my arthritis & inflamation. Many people think its addictive, thats all in their heads & not a physical addiction, that means your brain think's it cant live without it but your body can. As for people,s behavior, some jerk's can,t help themselves their going to act like A- Holes no matter what substance their HOPPED UP ON ,wether it's alcohol weed god or sugar.
Proabition never has worked & never will. Untill the American people speak up & demand equal treatment for Marijuana (A God given SEED) our government will continue to stifle & incarserate its users!
They could tax it like booze & legalize the growth of Hemp, but then that would create to much competition for they're fat cat friends(Big Oil,Textiles& durable goods,Pharmicuticals) & farmers would grow & market that instead of Tobacco or Opium (Heroin) along with some other things. NO NO NO WE CANT HAVE THAT GOING ON!!!

have you ever talked to a person that has smoked weed for several years,????? I believe that's where the term number than a pounded thumb comes from. so the "it doesn't kill brain cells" is a load of crap!!
although weed started as a "natural herb" it has been breed and cross breed to be more and more potent!!
if weed is "not addictive" why do people I know say the stuff makes you want more??
and the stuff will make you happy until you get stupid and think you can drive with it, then your going off the road, killing your best friend, or your brother or your wife or girlfriend. the last place I want to spend time with my girlfriend is sitting next to her hospital bed while she is in a coma (I'll be there but I would rather have her sleeping beside me in our bed at home)
but then the stuff makes you so dam paranoid that you don't want to leave the room your in,
I knew one guy (friend of a friend) that pissed himself every night because he thought there were "gremlins" living in his toilet, and I mean pissed himself literally, he wouldn't leave his living room even to use the bathroom, he lost his job because he was getting fat as a bus and couldn't do the work anymore, (munchies)

I don't know why it's illegal.
Opium is natural too, and it also makes you happy. It is more physically addictive, but weed gets a mental hold on people, especially those who think it's safe. It does kill brain cells and cause cancer and other ailments including memory loss, central nervous system disorders, mental illness, paranoia, etc....
That said, it has real and legitmate medicinal purposes and I believe it should be legal, but not for the reasons you are stating.

Wow. This is interesting. It seems Harry Anslinger was the Commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Narcotics from 1930-1962. He had some newspaper connections and began running stories about the effects of marijuana. He started strong in 1934 to criminalize marijuana. I suppose this is around the same time "Reefer Madness" was released.
