give the tax credits helpline a ring, they'll be able to tell you for sure. it all goes on what hours you usually work so if you usually work extra then you should be ok, ring em to be sure tho,

I hate to say this but I get working tax credits and I find if they ask you what your hours are they want to know what your actual contracted hours are, overtime doesnt come into it. They can and in some cases do check exactly what you do. And dont forget with the tax credits system any under or over estimation on your own behalf can come back to haunt you. You have to declare every change in hours or pay and you can wait till the start of the tax year but that is not a good idea I did that once and my credits were stopped for 6 months.

So its up to you but bear in mind that eventually it works itself out and you may find yourself owing back money as they may over pay you.

Contact the helpline and advise them that you normally do extra hours as they will ask for you most recent payslips and will then take an average and as long as this is over 30 hours you can claim WTC

I think that all teh answers are helpful but that possibly the real answer is that you can claim for the weeks when you do 30 + hours and not when you don't. [Oh yes HM R&C will cope - not] As someone said if you fail to tell them they will ask for it back..

Stupid isn't it?
