There is an old wives' tale that my Aunt told me years ago. When you get up, don't go to the bathroom, don't run any water go straight to your window. Place both hands on the window with your eyes open. Your dreams will come to you immediately. May sound strange but it works everytime

Most people dream three or four dreams a night. We don't remember them because we have a natural amnesia that occurs when we wake up and kind of wipes the slate clean. When you remember your dreams it means you did not sleep well, or go into a deep sleep, but remained in a REM state. Waking yourself up at three or four in the morning will only give you more bad sleep and interrupt your sleep cycle. When you first wake up, say what you were dreaming about, out loud to yourself. That will move the memory to a different section of the brain so you can remember it later.

keep a notebook next to your bed and whenever u wake up, write down everything you remember. Even if you wake up to go to the bathroom or whatever, write down what you can before going back to bed. Not only will this help you to remember and interpret your dream, but whenever you dream you can look back on preveious nights and try to find similarities. Usually, people have many dreams that are connected someone or show the same message. The more details you write, the better.

there is no for sure way to remember dreams. however, if your dreams are like many of those which are continuous (like one day after the other for a couple days or a week), then the best way to do is right after you wake up, before you do anything else, write what you had dream about the previous night as best in detail as you could.

try setting your alarm to wake you up at a period of 1 1/2 hours. for example if you go to bed at 12am you would want to wake up at 7:30 or 9:00. you can also set it to wake you up say at 4:30 then write your dreams down, go to sleep and wake up at 9:00 again and write it down so you can remember multiple dreams in one night. after you write down dreams for awhile you can increase your dream recall and get pretty good at it. basically you sleep in a 5 stage cycle, the 5th being rem sleep where you remember your dreams. and then once rem ends it starts over and you forget your previous dream until your next one. I think the reason you sometimes remember is you will wake up in the middle of a dream or right after you have had one, which is before you can "forget" it. i highly recommend you do write them down because right when you wake up the details are fresh in your mind, but they start to fade off during the day if you dont write them down.

Keep a copy book near your bed, and when you wake up and remember your dream, write it down... if you don't do this, you'll forget it in a couple of minutes or hours...
I've been doing this for years... just for fun...

try to do something that relates to the dream, and that could cause you to remember.
