I would like to know-

1)What accent does he have
2)What langauge does he speak
3)What method of communication does he use?

If the answer to number 3 is anything like 'it's in my head' then you are medically insane.

josh F-Why am I stupid for asking a question? Apologies if you're religious-you don't ask questions do you.

"Suppose God exists. Doesn't it then stand to reason that God then trumps your claims of "medically insane"? And if this supposition is correct, then since you fail to acknowledge that God can speak to people, doesn't that make YOU insane? Nice try though"

It cetainly doesn't make me insane. If god exists it still doesn't prove he talks to people in their heads. He could exist and not do this. Therefore those people would still be insane regardless of his existence as voices in ones head is reason to believe someone is insane. Nice try Captain Pedant, go read your bible.

Who are you to say someone is "medically insane" if they "hear God speak to them in their minds?"

Yes, fair enough, you got me-I'm not actually a doctor. I thought voices in the head were a sign of insanity, maybe I got it worng. My apologies.

I think the best way to say this is that He speaks to me out of His word. If that confuses you that's the Bible... Jim

People have been talking to God for years. Long before you were thought of. I had a hard time distinguishing your accent from your writing. A voice that speaks to the inner man has no accent.---I'm sure you already knew that.
Conversation with the inner self is usually what ever tongue that individual speaks. #3 is irrelevant if 1 & 2 are true.. God guides the inner man. For you that would be your conscience.. without faith a person is mostly miserable. They cannot prove things like LOVE

I can only give my own interpretation...

When God speaks to me, it is not with any particular 'accent' or 'language', but it is through any method of communication that I can understand. Most often, there is some answer to a prayer that is recognized as 'communication' from God.

For example, a very close friend of mine was recently contemplating a move out of state. While several houses in their neighborhood sat (and still sit) for sale for many months, theirs sold almost immediately. The husband found a good job right where they are looking to relocate, and, as the saying goes, "all the pieces seem to be falling into place".

As a Christian, seeking God's wisdom, it is sometimes difficult to "hear" Him when He speaks to me. However, as long as I am seeking His wisdom, I will be able to recognize when He is leading me in a certain direction, whether it is placing me in a specific situation at a specific time, or allowing certain situations to occur to help me to know the answers I seek or which direction to go.

I don't believe the "it's in my head" theory. A true practicing Christian knows God speaks through the heart. If someone is following what's in their head, then they are still making their own decisions and not allowing God to direct their lives.

1) Couldn't rightly say, it's more like a nudge or whisper than actual words. It's more like He reminds me of things I should or should not do.
2) Pretty much the same as above.
3) Senses and memory, I would say.

"If the answer to number 3 is anything like 'it's in my head' then you are medically insane."
This is only true if what we "hear" does not really come from an external source. That might be a bit difficult to prove. (And anyone who claims that I have to prove that it does must first prove that only those things which can be proven can be true.)

Well, as far as I know, God represents what is beyond humans and what we do not understand. So with that in mind, I think what people mean when they say "god speaks to me" or any departed beloved person, is that something is happening that reminds you of them, and things that they used to do or say influence your conscience and thoughts. Therefore, it is really your own conscience, your own mind, your own thoughts that you are hearing. It is possible to remember, in your mind, what someone's voice sounds like, right? It's common to hear anyone say, " I can just hear so and so saying right now......" Right? You don't necessarily have to be a Christian to "hear" someone speaking to you, do you?

I agree with you as far as "hearing voices". I have never understood how someone can "audibly" hear voices of someone that doesn't physically exist somewhere. I think you'd have to do some research to determine exactly at what point "hearing voices" would be considered medically insane by a psychiatrist, psychologist or some other medical professional.

1:None
2:The language of love.
3:He speaks to your heart.
I will assume, for the sake of a civilized reply, that this is not a smart-*** question. God speaks to everyone. Even you. If you don't hear Him it's your fault, trust me because I know. Been there, done that.
Try this. Get down on your knees somewhere private. Be open and honest in your prayers. Don't wait to hear 'voices', this isn't transcendental meditation. After all, God isn't going to pop in and say "Well, lets have a beer and chat." He already knows you and what you need. He will speak to your heart. Listen and you will hear. Give your life to Christ Jesus and He will guide you always. He will never forsake you, he will always be there for you no matter what. He will prepare a place at His Fathers side for you and there you will spend eternity. Sound to good to be true? It's really not.
Please listen. He's listened to you all your life. Give Him your life on earth and He will give you eternity in Heaven.

Who are you to say someone is "medically insane" if they "hear God speak to them in their minds?"

For me personally it is more like He speaks to me in my heart, or directs me to a passage or to something to give me the answers I seek, or sometimes it's spontaneous.

abc: When a voice is heard continuously in someones head, then it can be a sign of a mental illness. I have actually done some research on it, and from what I have found it is a very different experience. The voices people here when they have a mental illness, are often negative and constant, they override their own thoughts and are intrusive. They sometimes demand things etc...and the "speaking in my mind" that Christians here describe and that I have myself experienced is very different.

2007-05-12 05:15:33 · answer #7 · answered by Anonymous · 3 0

It's different for everyone.
1) Firstly he doesn't really have an accent, it's almost in my own voice when you have thoughts if you know what I mean.
2) He speaks English to me because how else would I understand him. He speaks to everyone in their own language.
3) It is as though he is speaking to me without the words ever going through my ears but go straight to my brain if you understand me.

No I'm not medically insane and Yes christians do ask questions :)

He doesn't have a accent or language. In general, when you ask god for guidance and then you feel moved in a certain way or something happens that seems like an answer that is god speaking to you.

Have you ever had a problem that you prayed about right before bed and woke up with the answer?

Have you ever wanted to be more useful and the next day someone asks you for help?

2007-05-12 05:06:44 · answer #9 · answered by Harmony 6 · 3 1

Well it's simple. Have you ever mulled over something in your mind trying to figure it out? Then suddenly the answer just comes to you? And you think to your yourself how stupid of course that's the answer. I think God talkes to our heart showing us the path that we should take.

I can tell you that sometimes there are no easy answers to the questions you have but if you look they are there.

I'll take medically insane anyday over the lost and empty life I was leading.

"God speaking to me" can mean that you hear God, but not in the literal sense. (although some claim that He does)
It is a feeling, an internal voice....it's really hard to explain....but if you have a relationship with Jesus and you ask the Holy Spirit to be with you each day, then you have this heightened sense of oneness with God.
I do hope that you get to experience this for yourself! Start by beginning a one on one relationship with God through prayer!
Have a great weekend!
