I really need to get a job over the summer, however my parents have planned two weeks of vacation, one in June and the other in July. I have to move back to the city where I go to school in early August. Should I still get a summer job and how likely will some company hire me, since I'll be gone for two weeks out of the two months I'm willing to work?

Also, what kind of job should I apply to, one that will allow me to be gone for two weeks out of the summer?

I can't skip out on vacations with my parents as I don't see them very often, only on school holidays and such so it'll be quite impossible

A summer time job doesnt necessarily mean that you have to go into a company and bend to the will of ur boss. It would have been easier if you were allowed to have a job during the school year ;) Anyhow, considering your unflexible hours my suggestion is to go into something more simple. As much as we all love babysitting it does give a significant amount of pay. If money is what your worried about then set an age limit, parents tend to spend more money on infants (0- 5 months) the baby sleeps half the time and doesnt know how to crawl yet ;) Maybe you should start off volunteering somewhere and kinda build up ur rep first. If ur a great volunteer they'll most likey want to hire you next time, even if you cant get in alot of hours. A job over the summer isnt that important tho. If worse comes to worse relax and have fun with it :D

Maybe you'll have to give up the summer vacations with your parents, and stay home and work.

Your job opportunites for the summer will be severely restricted if you're not available for a couple weeks.

Why can't you stay home and work? And I'm not to sure about jobs being that flexible either. Either way best of luck.
