My DVD doesnt play in full colour when i use the component cables. I do not know how to activate/set up this to work properly. The instructions for my DVD player are in Thai and I am an ex-pat and do not read Thai. I have tried all the sensible suggestions and hope that someone here can help me further. The cables are 3 "Monster" RGB cables and quite expensive. TV is Sony, DVD player is Pioneer.

A common mistake is to connect the yellow plug instead of the blue or red. (if you don't connect Green, you get no picture)

I must admit I've never heard of this arrangement on Far Eastern origin equipment, even for use in the Far East, because I have some and it's all standard phono connectors (JVC video recorder intended for the HK market). If the cables are right and in the right places the the only thing I can think of is that you have the AV input set wrongly on the Sony. No colour would indicate that the Sony is looking at the S-VHS input rather than RGB. If that's true then it's a case of fiddling with the Sony remote control AV button or setting the AV input in the on-screen menus. Alternatively it may be the DVD output is set for S-VHS output in the on-screen menus.

Are you sure your TV has component hook ups? If yes, your cables are probably hooked up wrong. Make sure that both ends of each cable go to the same name on the plugs of DVD and TV. Since you can't read Thai, look at the names as pictures.

Are you sure you have the component cables properly hooked up?
In your DVD set up, there should be a section for video, and in it there should be a section to tell it what type of video connections you are using make sure that it is set up for component hook up.

obviousely you have checked they are in properly. take out all other connections from the setup to make sure it is not trying to use the scart. make sure you have selected the correct av input on tv and correct output on dvd. I had a crap picture the other day and it was just a loose connection on the tv red cable i think.

confirm you connect only one set of cables out of the DVD participant - the two ingredient or composite, no longer the two. on the television, you could desire to change the "source" or "enter" connect the cables properly.
