I grew up in Rhode Island. People hated watching that show with me, because I could identify all the "cutaway" shots (downtown Providence, the Biltmore, etc.) and I would harp on how obvious it was that it wasn't really Rhode Island (accents, the fact that you never saw a Dunkin Donuts, etc.).

The only episode that was completely true to life was the one where Buddy Cianci (then-mayor of Providence) beat Joanie in a cooking contest with his marinara sauce (which is actually sold in RI grocery stores) but gave her the scholarship to cooking school.

Yeah I remember the show but it has been off the air a few years now. I think it went off in 2002. Melina Kankaredes (spelling?) stars in CSI - New York and I haven't heard about Mike Farrel in years he played the dad in the series - I loved him in MASH.

I loved that show too. I miss it too and wished it had lasted longer.
