I heard a song again that always bothers me, Sara Evans' "You'll Always Be My Baby," and thought of this. I don't like the song because not only is it treacly, but it implies that if a woman goes parking with her boyfriend, she "lets God down."

Why don't people ever worry about letting God down by stealing office supplies or having mean thoughts about the noisy neighbors or starting unwinnable wars, to name other things Christians can do that violate commandments? Why don't those kinds of things get talked about nearly so much as the pelvic issues?
Discuss....

God doesn't exist.
However, religions are very concerned with your love life, because it is one way they can control their people. Religions work through emotional manipulation. If they can get you to feel guilty about something you have strong natural instincts to feel, then they can get you into the pews regularly.
Of course, early on, the concern about sexuality was because women were considered to be property. You wanted to keep the merchandise in pristine condition for the future husband, because she was more valuable that way. Note how male virginity isn't mentioned in the Bible, only female.

All sin is equal in God's eyes with the exception of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which is unforgivable. But, taking a paper clip won't give you a Sexually Transmitted Disease that can kill you, God cares about us, that is why he gave us his word as instructions as how to walk in our lives to live without fear of things such as STDs or on avoiding other problems. Songs don't get written about mundane things but about things that will sell, namely sex.

God knew that promiscuous sexual activity is a major contributor to aids, crabs, and other venereal diseases, and he also knew that mankind tended to do the wrong things because of their sinful tendencies promoted by a sinful nature. The guidelines are there because we would destroy ourselves if we didn't follow them.
Consider if everyone ignored all the Ten Commandments how hard it would be to survive on earth.

The modern church exhibits all the symptoms of a fascist state, and one of those is an obsession with sex. It's all part of the rigid self-control, and control of others that comes from the fascist attitude.

If your belief-system is based on the lyrics of a song, you are already in deep trouble.
God cares about everything with regard to his Creation. He created you and that includes your body; he knows what is good for it, and what can destroy it.
As for other things that are wrong besides sexual issues, you must be listening to your music instead of to the news, because there are many, many other issues being seriously discussed and debated at this time. It sounds like its YOU thinking only about "pelvic issues" (??)

For some odd reason some people are ashamed of their sexuality that God gave them. If we were not supposed to enjoy sex He would not have made it so desirable and pleasurable. A loving sexual and monogamous relationship with the partner of our choice is normal and certainly enjoyable. Sex is not merely for procreation.
