when i was about 9 i got started getting pains in my stomach and felt really gassy from milk. But then after a year it went away. Now i think its starting up again. The milk wasn't old or anything. Why is that?

Stomach pains can be caused by a million and one things. Much depends on what you did at the time, did you stop drinking cows milk, move onto something else? Have you started drinking cows milk again? I have noticed 'twice' a year the milk will not be 'off' but you will find small lumps of cream in it, so I telephoned the supplier to figure out if I was imagining this? They had a lot of complaints! The reason, in the winter the cows are brought in off the fresh grass and fed in shed. Therefore the Cows have to adjust to the new food hence the milk being different. Likewise once winter is over, the Cows get sent out into the grass fields to eat fresh grass again and yes the effects the milk. This is probably what you have picked up on, the change in how the Cows are fed.

Does this only happen when you drink/use milk?? If you notice it with other dairy items like ice cream, you may be lactose intolerant. However I am not a Dr. so you might want to check with you physician. If you wanted to try something natural, my boyfriend takes Milk Digestant, which can be purchased at GNC for somewhere around $7.99 (or less). It is a supplement that contains lactaise, an enzyme that helps process lactose. He takes it right before he is going to consume ice cream or anything with large amounts of milk...a glass of milk or bowl of cereal.

Could be another allergy or intolerance such as Celiac Disease, an intolerance to gluten, which is in wheat, rye, barley and often oats. For more info, check the sites I list. There is a symptom list on www.csaceliacs.org. See a doc if it continues, especially a gastrointolgist doc.
Best of luck!
