Just the fact that you would impersonate your mother proves you don't have the maturity to be able to protect yourself from predators.
And to those who let their kids have one before the minimum age of 14 - I guarantee you they have at least one other with a password you DON'T know about.
My niece was kidnapped at 15 by an internet predator, she was rescued by the cops but to this day I don't think she gets that HE COULD HAVE KILLED HER.

NO! My friends say it's really cool to have a myspace. But i think otherwise. There's a lot of creeps out there that like 13 year old girls. I'm not saying this to scare you, I'm just warning you. I mean all the sex offenders and stuff go on the internet to look for little girls.
SO DON'T LET YOUR 13 YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER HAVE A MYSPACE!!!

That's really up to you and rather you can trust your daughter. There are a lot of weirdos out there even on Myspace. I have an account myself and I see this all the time. If you decide it's ok for her to have one you should get her information so that you can log on anytime and see what she's doing to either allow her to be on there when you are there. My Cousin is 16 and he parents allow her to have one only they don't allow her to make it public, no one beside her friends will be able to see her full profile they can only see her age, location (but you can get codes to take that off), and her main default pic but she has an icon on it because they don't allow her to add a Picture of herself on the front page only in her photo album, and she can not add anyone she doesn't personally know.

Only if you have full access to it, know the passwords, etc. My friend has a 12 year old who she let have a my space account, but my friend has full access to her daughters account. I personally wouldnt allow it, even if with full access, its just too creepy out there on the net. My son likes to play Yahoo! Chess and Checkers, but you can guarentee I am right there beside him while he is playing and I do not allow him to strike up any private conversations with his opponents and have discussed this with him in great detail. He is 10.

Sure why not. I mean you can make it totally safe from people. By only letting people who know you access it and also only allowing people to request being your friend if they know your last name or actual email address. Plus you can make the page private. I was allowed to have one at thirteen and have yet to have any problems with it. Although you should teach your child about using safety on the net. i.e. no talking to strangers, no going to chat rooms, no clicking on sponsered sites etc. Just know that you have to trust your child to make the right choices when on the internet. Also tell her to come to you if she encounters problems, encourage her to tell you if she has met someone online and persuade her against ever talking to that person or anyone else she doesnt know for that matter. Let her have some freedom on the internet while staying safe.

A lot of kids that age have a myspace page. If your going to let her have one..make sure it's set on private..know her password word so you can see what information she puts about herself...her pictures..and the friends she adds.

Absolutely not! It's not safe for children...and she is a child at that age. Children leave clues behind to help predators find their identity. They don't even realize they are doing it.
My niece is 14- and to her mom's shock- I found her myspace page. It left her home address, and her friends were calling her by her last name- she also used her first name in her identity. It would be easy for a predator to find her.
Even if set to private...I would worry.

kids a lot younger than 13 have one. but it all depends on how mature you think your daughter is and what she plans on doing on myspace. if she just wants to get on their to talk to her friends i think that is okay but if she's wanting to meet people on their then i'd say definitely not. it all depends on what you as the parent thinks. good luck.
