The last sentence is a run-on sentence. It should be broken up so that the purpose is clear. Is it the choosing that's the idea in the sentence, or is it the accentuating? As it reads, the predicate is "is trying to accentuate" and the subject is the noun phrase "that choosing this topic." The predicate should be "assures" and everything from "that this research" on should be a noun phrase acting as a direct object. The problem is the two ideas, the one about choosing and the one about accentuating, don't make sense together.
Though you do need to alter the final sentence, the rest of the paragraph isn't grammatically incorrect, nor informal. I did suggest two changes. East and West should be capitalized if you are referring to the groups of nations rather than the cardinal directions. I also suggested that you change generally into in general. The only reason is that "in general" is slightly more common than "generally" when using an adverb follows the phrase it modifies. You should only do so if you think it reads better to you. You have a good grasp of English, so you should be confident in your translation.

I would add the adverb 'generally' before the verb 'examines' and change the 'the' in 'brilliance of this man with' to 'a' rich legacy. Hope that helps.
