I need to know step by step procedure as to ridding him of this. Baking soda? Antibiotic ointment? Should I wrap his legs up?

Step 1 - Confirm they are in fact flea bites... If so go to Step 2 other wise stop and the medical practitioner will continue.

Step 2 - Bathe your son, treat with OTC anti-itch cream

Step 3 - Take the infected animal to the vet, let them bathe the animal and they can apply a spot treatment so the animal doesn't get reinfected, also since fleas are a parasite the Vet can check for any other problems.

Step 4 - Declare war on the fleas, no formal declaration needs to be drawn up.

Step 5 - Remove anything from the house that is alive, wife, kids, pets, people, grandma, goldfish, hamster, this is not an all incumbent list, as your living situation may vary.

Step 6 - Go to a store that sells pesticides.

Step 7 - Take your newly purchased pesticides and bomb the living s%#! out of your home.

Step 8 - Leave your home, as per the pesticides instructions, usually for 5 to 8 hours.

Step 9 - CLEAN! Vacuum all rugs, wipe down all residue the pesticides my have left, there are brands that do not leave a residue, however, just clean everything, most importantly, VACUUM ALL RUGS

Step 10 - Bring wife, kids, pets, people, grandma, goldfish, hamster anything else that is alive that resides in your residence.

Step 11 - Keep up with monthly spot treatments on the animal that hopefully you remembered to pick back up from the Vet.

Step 12 - Enjoy a flealess home!

Remember for every ONE flea you see, there are ONE HUNDRED others that you don't see, normally fleas do not bite humans, but will if quantity of the fleas exceeds the quantity of the food supply.

Had this problem when my son was about a month old when a neighbor brought fleas in on her pants.

Drop off any animals for a flea bath
Get a hotel reservation where there is a pool
Pack & get infant out
Bomb your house (with a few insect bombs, of course)
Get the infant in the pool. The chlorine sooths & dries the bites.
Stay out of the house for at least 24 hours
Clean the house of dust from bombs
Then - if they were flea bites, all was well for us!
Good luck!

My kids have had the same issue, so we had to get rid of our cat. But the major key after you get rid of the culprit, is that you bomb twice because if you bomb once, you won't kill the eggs, you have to bomb the house again a week later. I did extra duty, We bomb a couple times and I spray everything with the flea killer for homes by Harts. My son is allergic to flea bites, so we have to do all this. We got a special prescription medicine for him, but that's because he is allergic and the bites show up much worse than on the rest of us and they take for ever to go away. Good luck!

Go to the store and purchase something for insect bites. Apply that to the bites and get rid of the fleas! Please tell me you're doing something about that first! While you go to the store, you should do a flea bomb in the house and go to the vet's office to get your animal put on some prescription flea medicine.

If he has flea bites you need to get him away from where the fleas are. Fleas can be seen crawling on the skin so if you have seen small "specks" crawling on him you also have fleas in your living area! GIVE HIM A BATH!! BATHE ANY ANIMALS INCLUDING YOURSELF AND OTHER ADULTS. SPRAY THE ENTIRE HOUSE IF YOU CAN'T MOVE!

You need to move or bring in an exterminator to get rid of the fleas without poisoning your baby. You'll be lucky if someone doesn't call child protective services on you.
