Unfortunately, after 1260 years of persecution at the hands of the Papal Roman Catholic church the Sabbath was a fundamental truth never before questioned that was lost. The Roman Catholic church believes that it is above the bible, and to prove it they have thier own set of commandments which are a bit different.
The Sabbath commandment is really the fourth commandment. They had to pull out the second commandment so they could keep those statues in the church and then split the fifth commandment (Honor thy Father and thy Mother) into two separate commandments to make up the difference.
This question of the Sabbath is a powerful one and it truly does matter which day we keep. The bible says it does.

Some religious organizations (Seventh-Day Adventists, Seventh-Day Baptists, and certain others) claim that Christians must not worship on Sunday but on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath. They claim that, at some unnamed time after the apostolic age, the Church "changed" the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.
However, passages of Scripture such as Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10 indicate that, even during New Testament times, the Sabbath is no longer binding and that Christians are to worship on the Lord’s day, Sunday, instead.
The Sabbatists who nowadays want to observe the Jewish holiday, forget that Jesus and the apostles had authority to interpret and to reform the laws of Moses.
The early Church Fathers compared the observance of the Sabbath to the observance of the rite of circumcision, and from that they demonstrated that if the apostles abolished circumcision (Gal. 5:1-6), so also the observance of the Sabbath must have been abolished.
The following quotations show that the first Christians understood this principle and gathered for worship on Sunday.
The Didache
"But every Lord’s day . . . gather yourselves together and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. But let no one that is at variance with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned" (Didache 14 [A.D. 70]).
The Letter of Barnabas
"We keep the eighth day [Sunday] with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead" (Letter of Barnabas 15:6–8 [A.D. 74]). Peace and every blessing!

I was brought up Catholic. Now after 35 years of being a student of the manuscripts, one thing is true: I wouldn't follow one sentence in anything the Catholic Church puts out, esspecially their catechism.
Sabbath means rest. Yes, the weekly Sabbath is friday sundown until saturday sundown. But why would you expect Catholics to be told to follow the correct teaching of the Scriptures with regard to the Sabbath, when they go against most Biblical teachings otherwise?
But that said, one thing Christ thought was really amusing was how man tends to knit-pik at everything. They make their own traditions and then when they aren't followed, they point the finger and threaten them with hellfire and brimstone. Thats not Gods idea, thats some mans idea.\
There are more than just weekly sabbaths.
There are high sabbaths as well.
Follow the Word of God and you can't go wrong: follow the words and traditions of man or some church, and you are asking for trouble.

This reminds me of where the pharisees tried to catch Jesus in disobedience to the Mosaic laws. In the corn field when His diciples picked ears of corn to eat on the sabbath and they accused them. He readily explained it to them didn't He? Being a child of God comes from the relationship we keep with Him. Do we walk in the spirit so as to not fulfil the works of the flesh. There are churches that have worship services 5 times a week, including Saturday.
If you go on Saturday, that is good. At least you go. But if the central theme of the teaching there is Saturday, Saturday, Saturday. Or no Hell, no Hell, no Hell. Then I ask you where is Jesus Christ.
If you have God dwelling within you, in a reality, you will be a pleasing child to Him seven days a week.
Remember what Jesus said. The sabbath was made for us, our rest. Not us for the sabbath. Thats all.

Because of the Great Whore (catholic church). They are pagans in sheep's clothing.
The pagans worshiped the sun. In order to get weak minded Christians to believe this they made up a bunch of lies.
God never gave them the authority to do away with the seventh day as the sabbath day. They are liars and the truth is not in them.
God commanded us to set aside the 7th day.
Exodus 31: 15 &16 The Holy Bible (KJV)
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
perpetual - continuing forever : EVERLASTING
covenant - a usu. formal, solem and binding agreement
(Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary)
This was to never have been changed because it is an everlasting binding agreement between God and his people.
They have changed times and laws according to Daniel 7:25

The authority you speak of is the authority given to St. Peter, by Jesus Christ Himself.
"And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18)
**** Here is the authority, the verse just following
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19)
It doesn't get more plain than that. If one believes in the truth of Apostolic succession, one will see that this office must be succeeded. The successors are known as the "Successor of St. Peter," the first leader of the Christian Church, known as the Pope, the "Vicar of Christ." By using the power of authority given to the Church through Christ, the Sabbath was changed to Sunday to honor the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
We go to Mass on Sunday to offer worship and adoration to God alone. We go to recieve our spiritual food and drink, the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Eucharist. Jesus commanded that we do this in evey Gospel, notably in the Bread of Life discourse in John 6.
Also understand that for 1000 years, the Catholic Church WAS Christianity. Then the Eastern (Greek) segment of the Church went into schism. But, the Eastern Orthodox Church resembles the true faith in almost every way, a credit due to
Apostolic succession. Then 1500 years after the institution of the Christian Church, some folks decided that instead of helping to reform the one Church, they decided to break away and start their own religion, which somewhat resembled Christianity but was not.

No, it is wrong and not all religions embrace Catholics doctrine. Who decided Sabbath Day should fall on Saturday? It is God is it? And the catholic church substitute it for Sunday. Which one is superior? God or the Church's? Which one do you follow? The God or Church's? I don't believe this...

the answer is simple; the Catholic church didn't change the day. We are not under the old testament Jewish law and never were. When Christ came everything became new, even the day of worship. New testament scripture makes it plain they met on Sunday.

The Catholic Church had it right, has it right, and always will have it right, so long as God remains honest and trustworthy.
I wish our various followers of the old law, and our language "scholars" could hone their skills sharp enough to perceive and accept this most basic fact of the new covenant.
