If you sincerly asked for forgiveness. He has forgiven you.
Have faith.
You know if there is a change in your life. You don't want to do the sinful things you use to.
I seen there are a lot of people before me who have said the same thing as I am saying. Just believe.

with a first time repentence.. one's faith must be based on what God has already done and said.
and the Bible is a record of all of that.
just like you'd find it hard to believe something about a person if you never heard them promise anything.
for a first time repentence. God has sent His Son to pay the sin price for us. (see John 3:16)
so that anyone can approach God without fear and trust in His lovingkindness - disposition to be forgiving. (see 2corinth.5:19)

I can see how this may be a problem at times for people but being Catholic we have the sacrament of Confession and after receiving this sacrament of Christs mercy we really know deep within, that we are indeed forgiven.

The Lord God Almighty, has allready forgiven us all, He sent His One and Only Son to die to pay the penalty for our sin.
All He wants is for us to accept that Jesus did this for us, and ask Him for His forgiveness and really change, and try to have a pure heart.
He knows your heart, He has allready forgiven you.
You are a child of God.
Bless you.

God forgives in a large way and he doesn't remember your sin.
The reason he forgives you is that he gives you the benefit of the doubt. If you have truly become repentant it will show. Likewise if you are still practicing the sin he will know also.

The Bible quotes Jesus as giving the authority to the apostles to forgive sins. He also makes Peter the "rock" upon which he built his church, and gave him the keys to the kingdom.
That authority has been passed down through the ages. When you have to turn and face your sins, look them squarely in the face, admit to yourself that what you did was wrong, resolve not to do them again, and then get yourself to a priest and admit to him, out loud, what you did, he says "I absolve you."
It's hard to admit what you did to another person, and to make sure you're not back again a week later telling him you did it again, but hearing that assurance from another human being is soooo reassuring.

You'll be trying your best for a few weeks or so and then all of the sudden you'll be filled with peace and joy... you'll know, don't worry about it, just have faith... as long as you've truly had a change of heart and not just said a few words.
Have a great day!
