I have heard many different rules: 9 months, 12 months, 2 years, and 3 years.

I would look at your family history -does anyone have allergies particularly to shellfish? Does your child have any food allergies? If yes to either of those I would wait until age 2 or 3. Otherwise I think now would be fine, but that is just my opinion. However SMALL amounts the first few times, don't just sit her in front of a shrimp ring, there is some evidence that going from none to gorging on one thing can cause allergies.

Hmm I am trying to find a factual source on this that doesn't contain information that is blantantly false and only used to sell more baby products...

If you are very careful and clean them for your child, there should be no problem letting your baby eat the shrimps, but you must be sure their teeth can properly chew them before swallowing. Shrimp can sometimes be a little chewie. Eighteen months is not a bad age, but with that as everything else they but in their mouth children should always be supervise. Happy mother's day to you too! Enjoy yourself and your baby!

Well you can give her shrimp but make sure to cut it in small pieces so that she can eat it. And also wait to give her whole ones till later don't want her to cut a big chunk and get it stuck in her throat. AND Of course HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you

You're the parent. If you want him to eat a varied diet, you have to insist that he eat it. Making him different meals than the rest of the family (like keeping the meat out of his spaghetti) is not doing him any favors. It's just keeping him from getting enough protein and making him a picky eater. Offer him ONE healthy meal, and if he won't eat it, don't give him anything else. Eventually he will get hungry and ask for it. Kids won't starve themselves. He just knows you'll make him something else!

My daughter had her first taste of shrimp at 18 months and she loved it, her grandfather gave it to her. I don't think its too bad (no more than 3oz.), but I wouldn't give it to her all the time, maybe as a special treat.
