This is one way how to go to Confession

+ Get yourself ready by making your examination of conscience.

You enter the confessional. You can choose to talk to the priest face to face or anonymously behind a screen.

+ After the priest greets you with the Sign of the Cross make the Sign of the Cross and say: “Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been (say how long) since my last confession. These are my sins…”

+ Tell your sins simply and honestly to the priest. Don’t be embarrassed.

+ When you are done listing your sins please say: “…I am sorry for these sins and all the sins I can’t remember.”

+ Listen to the advice the priest gives you and accept the penance from him. Then make an Act of Contrition for your sins:

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
And failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Amen.

+ The priest will then conclude with the words: “Your sins are truly forgiven, Go in Peace”. You respond: “Thanks be to God.”

+ Perform your penance as soon as possible.

With love in Christ.

The penitent is requested to examine his/her conscience, to use their knowledge of what constitutes sin to see and understand what in their thoughts, words and deeds since their last confession constitutes sin.

The penitent then goes to the Sacrament of Reconciliation or as it used to be known, Confession.

Upon being greeted by the priest, the penitent makes the sign of the cross and says: "Bless me Father, for I have sinned. It has been (length of time) since my last confession. In that time I have (sins enumerated)."

The priest then ascertains if the penitent is truly repentant for said sins. He then counsels the penitent on ways and means to avoid those sins in future. He then asks for a good Act of Contrition (a prayer in which the penitent expresses sorrow and repentance for the sin(s), and asks for God's help in avoiding them in future.) At that time the priest pronounces absolution according to Christ's command to the Apostles, then gives the penitent his/her penance. These days it's usually a combination of certain prayers, acts of charity, and small sacrifices of good stuff (depending on the age of the penitent that can mean anything from no candy for a day to no trip to Vegas until next month.) Whatever the priest deems will make the most impression on the penitent and help him/her to understand the seriousness with which God views sin.

The priest blesses the penitent. The penitent thanks the priest, leaves the confessional and does the penance.

And that's all there is to it.

Hope this was what you were looking for.

You can begin your confession by making the sign of the cross and greeting the priest: "Bless me father, for I have sinned." You may continue with the time since your last confession: "My last good confession was... (how many weeks, months, or years approximately)."

Say the sins that you remember. Start with the one that is the most difficult to say, after this it will be easier to mention the rest.

Conclude with "I am sorry for these and all the sins of my past life."

The priest will assign you some penance and give you some advice to help you be a better Christian. The priest will invite the penitent to manifest his /her contrition. The penitent may say for example: "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." or an "Act of Contrition"

"O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because I have offended you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen."

Listen to the words of absolution attentively.

God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of His Son has reconciled the world to Himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the church, may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

At the end answer: "Amen."

Be willing to do the penance as soon as possible. The penance will diminish the temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven.

heres a summary that i can come up with:

penitent comes in says:bless me father for i have sinned, its been x amount of time since my last confession

priest: may God the father of mercy....something something something

penitent then confesses their sins, and when they're done they say "these are my sins and im sorry for them"

Priest then might talk with penitent about why those sins are wrong and how to avoid them,

penitent then says Act of Contrition :my God I am sorry for all my sins with all might heart, in choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you, whom i should love above all things. Our savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us, in His name my God have mercy

priest then tells penitent to do an act of pennace (say a prayer, to treat others better to show you're sorry)

priest then says "in the name of Christ i forgive you of your sins, go and sin no more in the name of Christ" (or something similar to that)

You go to a priest...that's a man who has little or no experience of life as the rest of us know it...you tell him you have been naughty..there are grades of naughtiness so depending how naughty you have been he tells you that if you say 3 hail Marys...what ever they are... all your naughtiness will be forgiven ...you are then free to be as naughty as you like till the next time and SO IT GOES ROUND AND ROUND
