I think that Islam was and has the potential to be a wonderful religion once again. In order for that to happen, it needs a renewal of sorts. The truly good people of that religion need to completely separate from those who simply are not good at all.

Like any organized religion it asks the faith-seeker to trust in religious texts and interpretations even if the clues don't add up.

It uses the carrot and stick approach to moulding a person's character, i.e. heaven for the righteous and hell for the unbelievers.

Aspects of Islam that are I view as positive are the discipline displayed when fasting and the emphasis on giving charity.

Islam is also a very practical way of life, it sets confines on behaviour in all areas of life- however may in fact be where the problem lies. I think the limitations often stifle creative endeavours and the ranking of the community and state before the interests of the individual lead to mob mentality behaviour which prevents 'thinking outside the box'.

Islam is the religion for you if you believe every footstep of life needs to be answered for and intuition can't be trusted.

The Qur'an is constantly consulted- if your way of thinking differs from a majority scholarly interpretation you are often branded a traitor. I believe Islam isn't a cause to be able to commit treason against! Individuals make up societies and need to have the right to decide on how they will regard what are perceived as 'God's Laws'.

The justification of slavery is frightening, as are ideas that marrying at the age of 9 is healthy.

It is a religion which uses a hell to promote people into following it. People who are fearful often do irrational acts and as the such I do not trust it as I do not trust any religion that uses fear tactics to maintain faithful followers.

In addition to my dislike of fear tactics used by Islam, I do not like that a lot of people who practice Islam are fundamentalist and will often resort to saying they are peaceful but have a hidden agenda.

That said I know there are good spirited Muslims, but I have also seen investigations performed is mosques and the lies spread by these particular mosques (including a very large "peaceful" one in the England) is outright disgusting. It leaves me to wonder exactly what the intention is of many Muslims.

Sorry for placing Islam in a negative light, but I feel that an honest answer was requested.

According to Islam, The God created this universe and has sent human beings to live in this world. . In Quran Allah says I didnt create this human and jins except to devout him only, He sent 124000 messengers to guide each and every society in this world, and has sent Prophet Mohamed.p.b.u.h as the last. You can either accept this theory or can reject, but when you reject, do it with reasons and logics because according to Islam Allah will ask you why you reject my teachings? So sister the first thing you have to do is to try to understand what is there in Quran, Bible and the Thora and whatever divine books available and see which one is right and believe accordingly, In Islam there is no force to believe that, just because you born to a Muslim parents you have to believe in it. It has given freedom to chose your own. So get your thoughts working, dont just say I dont believe without any reason.

Don't even get me started this morning on the "religion of peace". Its a religion that is attempting to attack the West the only way it can: thru the back door. They are trying to convert ignorant people who will swing our doors wide open to an attack. Mr. Bush has protected this Country quite well since 9/11, but he can only do so much if stupid people can't see thru the bs of the real
agenda behind this new little motto we keep seeing "Islam: the religion of peace".
We are fighting a war against an invisable enemy; that enemy wants us and our children dead. That invisable enemy hides within Islam. We cannot afford to have tea with the enemy, its just that simple. Why?
Because we do not know what they look like; all we do know is that they are Muslim,
period.
Those "nice" muslims out there will have to excuse us while we attempt TO KEEP OUR KIDS ALIVE.
Those Westerners who convert to that religion are worse than treasoners. They are ignorant people with no regard for their own personal safety, but worse, they have no regard for the safety and lives of the rest of us that they put into direct harms way. God help any of them, if its my kid who is killed when they attack us again.
They better hope they don't hit any of my loved ones, or the world is gonna find out what rightious indignation means for sure.

Jack Chick has an excellent tract on the history of Islam;

http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0042...

It puts out the origins of this religion and explains why Muslims believe the way they do.

Hope that helps, as I also share this opinion.

Take care!

The Problem with Islam and almost every other religion is the fact that the founder and/or God is dead. So to me its hard to worship a god that cannot even conquer death. But the good news is that about 2000 years ago God(Jesus Christ) came to this earth as a man and died for our sins so that we can go to heaven if we accept him. Three days after he died, he did something no other "God" has done, he rose from the dead! I know my God is alive today and he wants you to go to heaven to be with him. All you have to do is pray and confess your sins to him, ask him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart, and live for him. Jesus is waiting for you, what will you do with him?

There are 2 types of muslims. There are the converter types, who have always been aggressive in forcing converts, and there are the converted. The converted are for the most part peaceful, just as their name, slave (muslim), implies. The converter type are as aggressive as they were in the beginning 1400 years ago, ruthless, greedy, insane, and inhuman.

For the most part it's another belief system that has misinterpreted an enlightened being's vision, like all religions. But I think the Sufis got it the most right of those who are Muslims, as did all of the mystic branches of all religions. Religion is kindergarden, mysticism college.
