I'm 16 years old soon to be 17, for sometime I've had to see other kids at school fall in love, and I find no one I consider worthy, and have only my strong sense of fantasy. As a result I feel traped in addiction to pornography and masturbating. How can I overcome these addictions.

I've been in your shoes before and the only thing that really changed my social life for the better was completely getting away form porn.

It's poison, think about it.

steps to overcome addiction to porn.
1. Just say to yourself... I won't view porn any more. Then stay away from it. If you ever find yourself sitting at the computer and those urges to view it come get away immediately!
2. Control your thoughts by filling your mind with good things when perverted thoughts enter your mind. (come up with 5 different things that work for you[like singing a song, reading a good book, watching a wholesome movie, exercise etc.])
3. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise.
4. If you never type in the words that bring porn to your screen then porn will not be viewed on your screen. If you never buy or rent pornographic material then you'll never have it.
5. Involve the Lord... tell him your tired of the way you feel about yourself, tell him you want to change and ask for help.

For a start it is very wise of you to realize that these things are in fact addictive and like any addiction can change your whole inner self to negative emotions.
You have to remember that at your age hormones really kick in and have a powerful effect on you, the only answer really is self control and will power.
You will soon be involved with someone but I would caution you as to the meaning of falling in love at your age, are these other kids mature enough to realize the difference between love and lust?
Be patient and things will work out.

I'm going to be honest, if you don't find anyone else at school 'worthy', it sounds like you have an extremely exaggerated sense of self-importance.

You're some loser kid posting on the internet about how much you masturbate on a saturday afternoon, instead of being out with your friends. Something tells me you can't find anyone to like YOU rather than the other way around.

Everyone masturbates in some way or another, anyone that says they don't is lying to themselves...as for girl friends don't worry about it, you will find someone some day...I have a male friend that is 42 yrs old and he is still looking. You may be shy...or have a feeling of unsureness regarding what you want out of life regarding sex...seek a councilor retrospect to these possible needs.

Good Luck!

Here is some good helps:

I encourage everyone to get a good webfilter such as "K9 Web Protection." This is available at: http://www.k9webprotection.com/ Another good software to try is what is called accountability
software. This one will track questionable websites, and email them to a person, or persons, of
your choice. It is called x3Watch and is available at: http://www.xxxchurch.com/07/ and
http://x3watch.com/ These are ideas both for parents, and persons who are struggling with an
"addiction" to internet pornography.

Good for you, that you are concerned about this.

You're young. Jump off your high horse into the pool of life and
live. Feelings of guilt can aways be gotten rid of, but the sting
of regret for not at least trying lasts forever.

If you have a strong sense of fantasy you shouldn't need the porn. Go see a therapist.
