We do have different views than most of the other Christian churches. But we are not a cult. We do believe in Jesus Christ since his name is in the church's name. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I would not vote for Romney for totally different reasons. He messed up the Salt Lake Games. A little power goes to a person's head. he might start out with good intentions but having the power that being president will change his attitude within months of getting in there.

Oh, come on. Cult?
A cult doesn't emphasize family values. A cult doesn't preach its followers to be good, moral people. A cult doesn't teach people to have a clean, healthy lifestyle. A cult doesn't accept Jesus Christ as the Savior. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints does ALL of these things. It is definitely NOT a cult. It's a sect of Christianity.
Does it even matter, though? Why vote for someone strictly because of their religious beliefs?

Mormons are very wonderful people and you need to shut up because, as guitarpicker has pointed out, you do not know what you are talking about. In a cult, there is generally one person brainwashing and controlling its "members" and this is not the case with the wonderful outreach of the Mormons and the Church of Latter Day Saints.

First, what is your definition of a cult?
Mormons are different than most Christians in their beliefs, but they are not a cult in a sociological sense. They are by far some of the most moral people I know, and much less hipocrytical than most Christians I've met.
While they have somewhat extreme views of morality, they don't typically preach one thing and do another, as do many Christians. Their views regarding godhood are different than most Christians, but no less defensible.
Basically, Mormons put their money where their mouth is. They don't have the corruption in ministry that many Christians do. They don't have paid clergy; people making money off of the believers in every parish or congregation.
When you can show greater morality among other Christians over Mormons, I'll believe that it would be unwise to vote for a Mormon. The Bible itself says "By their fruits shall ye know them". The Mormons certainly seem to show fruit that many Christians do not.

Well, you put George W. Bush into the White House how is that any different. Some may view him as a cult member, I don't personally but I do think he does not know how to separate religion and politics which are two things that should definitely be separated.

Cults as used in the way you are referring it as do have a few other criteria that LDS do not practice. Also there are a lot of Mormons who are democrats.
While I disagree with every religion including Mormons, I feel it is incorrect to label a group of people a Cult as defined by professionals when they are not.

What religion teaches Romney is the devil?
I wouldn't vote for him because he's just wrong, but he belongs to the same cult (monotheism) as the current president.

Every religion is a cult. We only call them a religion once they have so many followers as to be a dangerous threat.

That is because not everyone shows total ignorance about the Mormons as you do. Until you conduct honest research into this Church you will remain so.
