I don't know what surgery has been done and on which part but I presume she might be having osteo Arthritis of The Knee where welling is very common, however care is to be taken. You have to ensure that the shoes are proper with special lining and alignment to protect the knees and diabetic skin.

Your question is very vague. I would suppose that she had operation on the knee, that is the operation done very often. Now she has three problems, Arthritis, Diabetes, and High blood pressure. The swelling can be normal for up to three months, for that your Nani needs to walk around and do physiotherapy, she also needs to control her sugar and Blood pressure. If she is not walking around and doing her therapy, all three can be whacked, so be sure to tell her to control her sugar and BP and continue her therapy. She may complain that she has pain while doing therapy, tell her to take her pain medicine half an hour before she does her therapy.

Swelling can occur after surgery. With all of the other problems, I think you need to call the medical doctor and explain what is going on. This could be a problem.
