I work for nissan the imobilizer is reprogramed with a NATS card and specific code is entered with a cable and hand held Consult II device. After 2004 the code requires a special pin number generated in ASSIST computer. Each key is introduced to either the car ECM or body control . If you use the nonprogramed key the car will lock out all keys. It is the dealership that can do this job however some good locksmiths have computers that can reprogram keys.

I believe with renaults the code is entered by putting the key in the ignition and part turning it ie "clicking" it with a short pause inbetween each set of numbers
