You need to see a dentist so you can be put on antibiotics and the abscess can be healed. It won't just go away on its own.
A tooth abscess made my mother very ill for a year before they found it was the source of all her body's illnesses. So, it CAN affect your entire body.
Meanwhile, you can obtain some benefit by taking something like aspirin or ibuprofen for the pain. You may be able to lessen the swelling by hotpacking that area.

You may like Dr Miller's answer but he is right. If you go to the ER they will only give you antibiotics. It MAY make the pain go away, but only for a while. Then the pain will be back and you will be right where you are now. You need to see a dentist. A routine extraction should be no more than $200.00. The longer you wait try to get it done for free or a very low cost the worse it will get.

Any type of infection inside the mouth or nasal cavity should be taken very seriously because if left untreated, it could spead throughout the head and if it should reach the brain, at that point there is no way to treat the brain and you die, worse case senario, but you could have a multitude of other health problems from the infection. You need to see a Dentist ASAP! and have that tooth fixed.

Warm salt water rinses can be soothing, and ibuprofen helps with the pain, but you really need to see a dentist to get a Rx for an antibiotic, and they can also numb the area and clean the abcess out, then give you a better idea of what your next step should be.

Ibuprofen for inflammation and swelling.
Mouth wash with Hydrogen Peroxide several times a day.
Use a gentle tooth brush to get it into the gum line. It will bubble in infection out and help kill the pain .

Rinsing with salt water and taking motrin or tylenol will help, BUT you need an antibiotic. Call your dentist. Often absesses will not go away on their own and can cause damage and lead to sepsis.

you need to go see a dentist. it could be either a endodontic origin which requires a root canal or periodontic origin. either way the source needs to be cleaned away. you can't just rinse with salt water or take antibiotics or painkiller.
