I've been sick for a week now and have been coughing a little bit. Nothing too bad. Tonight, I can NOT stop coughing. It's 1AM and I can't get to sleep because the second I lay down I start coughing every 10-15 seconds or so. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this, even if its just temporary?

You can try taking something like Robitussin until you can get to a dr to have them evaluate the situation to see what they think could be going on. If there is a walk-in clinic available (some of the bigger drugstores are now making this available) you can also go there and have them check it out this weekend before you talk to your dr next week, but this definitely needs to be evaluated by a dr.

hmm you really didnt give us much to go on? Is it a dry hacking cough, chesty cough or is it that drippy feeling in the back of the throat cough? If you need relief for a dry hacking cough (no mucus) use a cough suppressant. For the chesty cough use an expectorant. For the drippy cough you may need a nasal spray ... but really you've had your cough for a week and a half now so the best thing to do would be to go see your doctor.
