I've never heard it's okay, I've never harassed staff, and what do you consider to be harassment anyway?
Based on your previous question about this, I guess if you consider ordering food with adjustments, and then asking questions about certain dishes harassment, then you must get a *lot* of harassment from diabetics, Jews keeping kosher, vegetarians, picky people, people who don't like certain foods, hey, basically 90% of your customers! The real question is, why does it not bother you when someone says "Hey, no pickles on this, I *really* hate pickles - can you make sure this doesn't have pickles for me?" but it bothers you when a vegetarian asks the same about meat? (P.S. - I tip more, the more questions I ask, because I know it's a little bothersome.)

Maybe you should find a different job if customers asking questions upsets you that much.

I know you're just trying to be stupidly funny in your own way; Obviously for attention. Well you got it, good on you! But I must say that you're idea of vegs "harassing" and meat eaters harassing are two different scenarios. From the veg side (not saying all the time, but most of the time unless they're jerks) we simply REQUEST there not be certain things on the plate. Maybe a pasta dish tossed with olive oil instead of butter or cream. While from your point of view, going into a veg restaurant and ordering steak and then complaining is quite a difference in any body's book whether you want to admit it or not! You have a nice day!

I think what a lot of non-vegetarian people don't understand about being a veg is that for most of us it is a passion and a different way of life, and when you look at it as someones passion (and with passion comes very intense view points and feelings), you can see why they are so verbal about it. Now I am NOT saying that anyone has a right to harass bc that also makes no sense...veg's often try to defend their choices for not eating meat and most just want to go about their business and not have to be on the defense all the time (I know I do) so the fact that they would harass meat eaters makes them hypocrites. We all have free will to do what we wish with. The moment veg's put other people in the spotlight for their meat eating choices is the moment it will be put on them for their non-meat eating choices, so it is a never ending loop unless we just accept what is and others choices!

It's a question of being put on notice! Because a general restaraurant is supposed to politely answer any question re contents (although not intense harrassment) but with the veg restaurant the very sign on the door makes it clear that there will be NO meat in the first place. Any person who knowingly walks into a veg restaurant and asks for meat is an idiot.

When have vegetarians gone into restaurants and harrassed the staff?
I'm a vegetarian and I've never done that.
I'm also not the type of vegetarian that chooses to force their beliefs on meat eaters.
It's a choice. It's also for health reasons (believe it or not, many people become physically ill when consuming meat).
I am comfortable with my choice to be a vegetarian and it's fascinating how so many people either find it interesting or are bothered by it.
I don't see why anyone should care what I eat or do not eat!

I've never had a vegetarian "harass" - which I am taking to mean "inquire in a bullying fashion" - me about anything. I've had them ask politely, before I was even vegetarian, and I am ashamed for not being ever nicer than usual to them now. I have however had people excessively ask for special preparation, if they have allergies, etc. And that's fine! People should have a good experience dining out and get the most out of their money.

To the disgusting person who said "don't f*ck with the people who handle your food" ... this is true, but grow up a little bit, if you can't deal with a simple customer, wait until you get out into the real world!

If it was ok, it'd be the same reason it's ok for persons like you to post comments that instigate stupid responses because there's nothing more suited for such a question.

But it's not ok for anyone to go into any restaurant and harass the staff... you're question is entirely open, arbitrary and factless. You need to site some sort of source or quote a report of at least one such incident - and even then it's 'still' not ok.

Throwing self inflicted pity trips or false injustices out in public like this for attention does nothing for anyone. It solves nothing, resolves nothing and is just too plain generic to expect any genuine response. The only thing it does do is shows your insecurity to understand a world that you are incapable of at the present time..and by coming into a forum that represents a small part of that world with this question does nothing for you

...except remind us why we choose the diets we do and not all the time go out of our way to try and show others (i.e. you) the reasons behind our choices. They should be obvious to anyone with an open mind.

.. i know you used to work at a restaurant and what not, but don't you think you should stop holding a grudge? its difficult to be a veggie in a meat eaters world. im sure they weren't trying to harass the staff, they just wanted to be sure there was no animal products in their food.

Ok, here's an idea. There are limited restaurants that cater strictly to vegetarians and vegans, so many are pretty much forced to eat at establishments that serve meat. Why would a meat consuming person CHOOSE to eat in a strictly vegetarian restaurant? That is stupid.

I'm not sure their food preference has anything to do with the problem. People that harass staff at a restaurant are just plain stupid, they have no manners or brains for that matter, and they're probably going to have their veggie delights spit on and thrown on the floor before being served. Never f**k with people who handle your food.
