I am looking for an accurate, good, all around rifle to shoot targets, and maybe later switch over to hunt deer with it. Any suggestions?

Can someone explain the 30-'60? I have no idea what that means.

First thing that comes to mind is of course an AR-15 but you won't be hunting deer with it unless you get the.50 Beowulf upper http://www.gunblast.com/50Beowulf.htm I love Ar's they're grate the most fun to shoot and you can later on turn them into any type of rifle you want very easily. I guess I would suggest a Remington 700 if you are planning on hunting deer it's a bolt action and comes in several different styles. http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/model_700/ If you want a really good bolt action .22 get a kimber SVT it's my second favorite rifle to shoot due to it's balance, out of the box excellent trigger, and superb accuracy http://www.kimberamerica.com/rifles/kimber1722/svt.php

I believe elChupacabra! on most of the rifle comments, yet you could bypass with a miles better high quality scope. offering a sprint greater element, in case you will shoot to 6 hundred or perhaps 800 yards take a glance on the Remington seven-hundred VSF, or XCR Tactical long variety in 308. The VSF will run you approximately $900, and the XCR somewhat greater. Or look at any of the Savage aim fashions in 308. in case you opt to push your variety to a hundred yards, look on the Remington seven-hundred Sendero SF II in 3 hundred Win magazine. or much greater effective the recent Savage F type aim rifle in 6.5x284. the two a sort of will run merely over one thousand money. those Remington rifles all come nicely-known with top type shares, so which you do no longer could spend money upgrading them. The VSF and Sendero incorporate H.S. Precision shares, and the XCR with a Bell & Carlson on the selection of scopes, in Optics you quite get what you pay for, I certainly have been dissatisfied with the nicely-known of the Tasco scopes. Edit: That Tasco is thoroughly diverse then something of their product line, although you're sacrificing alot with a fastened capability. additionally merely by fact an merchandise has an NSN is incomprehensible. i comprehend the technique, and am in contact with assigning NSNs, and almost something can get one. take a glance at the two the Nightforce NXS line, or Horus creative and prescient Raptor or Falcon. They the two make astonishing scopes with reliable reticles to hold off for wind flow and variety. The Nightforce and Falcon the two run approximately $1400, the Raptor merely below $one thousand. I certainly have adventure with all of those scopes and that they carry out tremendously. this could placed your finished desirable at your budget.

It depends on what mid-price range is. the Mossberg 100 ATR is a great gun, i have a .243, and only gave $300 for it at Walmart when they were selling guns a couple months ago. the Remington 700 is a great shooter, and it is around $550. Do some looking, and you will find a good cheap gun eventually.

I second the Savage 110 suggestion, and I like the .308 cartridge.

However, if this is going to be a one rifle, do-it-all battery, you ought to consider the .30-'06. It is a bit more versatile than the .308.

I would go with a Savage or Remington (Big Green is slightly higher-but not by much) base model. Either will suit you just fine. Either go with a .308 or a .270.
