I had my cholesteral checked two weeks ago and it was 346. So I completely changed my eating habits to fat free or low fat items and started exercising 5 days a week. I had my cholesteral check again yesterday which is exactly two weeks and it was 214. I have lost 11 lbs. So does this sound accurate? Is it possible to drop it that much in two weeks without medication?

The first test was not taken after fasting, but the second one was.

Some tests are affected by fasting and cholesterol is one of them. After eating, you have more cholesterol circulating in your blood and if that's when the test was done, it'll be high.

Add to that, your weight loss and complete change in eating habits, I'd not be surprised.

That's very good that you have achieve this result within a short time ! Now I would like to tell you that this cholesterol is essential for many things ! So do not drop it further ! It is essential for many cell functions and in fact there may not be single cell without it take hormones ! and all other things 1 So please do take some fat in your diet ! People do not understand the value of well balanced diet ! Anything in excess with surely do harm but if it is taken in a balance way it is very useful so take it but not in excess ! Now what could be excess in your individual case is again a question so be care ful in that !See the family history if it is hyperchlolesterlemia than do not do much to lower it further as you are born to have it and your other system is trained to work with it !Any Major change in it may give some problem ! But keep a eye on it on yearly base !!Always YoursmE

Wow, that's a really big drop in 2 weeks! Was the first test taken when you were fasting?

If the tests are correct, then hopefully you can get your scores down to a normal level and not have to take any medicines.

Good luck! Sounds like you're doing a great job in lowering your cholesterol.

Yes, but unusual. Especially if you had a bad diet and no exercise before.

It could still be lower. Mine is 118, but I have medication to go with my exercise and very low fat diet.
