sounds like panic attacks

The first answer sounds like a winner to me. My mother gets panic attacks. She gets them randomly (not at any specific time or for any specific reason). Sometimes she gets them so bad that she feels like her throat is closing and she cant breathe! she's had to pull over on the side of the road and call an ambulance!!

I have taken some psychology classes and attended a few therapy sessions myself (due to minor depression issues)...the one thing the really helped for me ( and that I have taught my mom to do) is breathing exercises.

My mom was doing breathing exercises but she was doing them all wrong - she was taking short fast breaths. The best way that I can describe the way you should breathe is to breathe like your blowing bubbles from a bubble wand. I gave my mom a bottle of bubbles with a bubble wand and she keeps it with her where ever she goes --- when she begins to feel shakey she blows the bubbles. If she is in a place where she can not blow the bubbles, she breathes the same way that she would if she were blowing bubbles.

However, i would strongly suggest going to a psychologist of some sourt, or a therapist, and check out why this is happening to you. It sounds to me like its some kind of psychological issues with your emotions ... and sometimes just by talking to somebody about it you can cure the problem. Other times, medication is needed and can be very helpful.

These are called panic attacks. A panic attack is a period of intense, often temporarily debilitating, sense of extreme fear or psychological distress, typically of abrupt onset. Though it is often a purely terrifying feeling to the sufferer, panic attacks are actually an evolutionary body response often known as the fight-or-flight response occurring out of context. Symptoms may include trembling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), light-headedness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), and sensations of choking, smothering and dreamlike and disconnected sensations. During a panic attack, the body typically releases large amounts of adrenaline into the bloodstream. Many first time sufferers of a panic attack believe they are dying, going insane or having a heart attack. Many say panic attacks are among the most frightening experiences of their lives. Repeated and seemingly unprovoked panic attacks may be a sign of panic disorder, but panic attacks are associated with other anxiety disorders as well. For example, people who suffer from phobias may experience panic attacks upon exposure to certain triggers. People with panic disorder often can be successfully treated with therapy and/or anti-anxiety medication or antidepressants.

Hi,

I would certainly discuss this with your General Practioner (GP). From what you are explaining it could be the onset of anxiety. Have you recently within the last 3 months been given any bad news personally with regards to your health etc?

Hope this helps

You say that you don't have "depression" or "anxiety", but you sound pretty anxious and depressed to me. You sound paranoid too. I think you may have some mental issues you're trying not to deal with here, and you're using yahoo answers to either drudge up some sympathy for yourself or to confirm that you're not nuts. We are not doctors! (Most of us anyway). You CLEARLY need professional help. I really hope that you get it if these things are really happening to you.

get off your PC now and telephone your GP for an appointment- ask for an extended appointment which will allow you time to talk about your problems
yahoo answers is great for some things but what you need is one to one advice from a Doctor.
go phone now - you'll get better quicker than keep posting pleas on yahoo!
good luck

i am not totally sure what your writing there but i take it you mean your having some kind of uncontrolled emotions.
i suggest you look into some therapy for this . meditation is one way to go . i suggest that first.
if that is not enough then see about medication.

Its said that breathing in to a brown paper bag and inhaling deeply helps this condition. I!d imagine your doc. could give you something for this till it goes away, as it will in time. cc.
