Here's how to tell if the hamster has wet tail. The fur around the rear will look wet and green diarhea- like feces will be stuck to the area. If the butt area doesn't look like this and you recently acquired the hamster, take it back to the petstore. Hamsters are generally hardy animals and don't show signs of ill health until old age.

The best thing to do is make an appointment at the vets. He could have something called "wet tail" which is a disease of the rear end of hamsters. Its very common, but can be fatal if left untreated for too long.

Sasha, hamsters don't HAVE periods!

He could have nicked himself by accident. If he seems happy and healthy enough I shouldn't worry unless it happens again, if it does take him to the vet for a checkover.

get it to the vet quickly! it sounds like wet tail its when they are taken from their mother too early and they rot from the inside because they dont have the right nutrients to survive! get to a vet or it will die! and no hamsters dont have periods!
