Government employees are paid by the common man but the latter gets poor public service in return.

government employees get the same workers rights as the 'common man', except that they can often lose their jobs when elections change the party in power, or when the budget changes.

additionally, they get the full bront of everyone's frustration with the government of the day. not many people make the distinction between 'employee' and 'politician', which quite frankly i find ignorant considering how long governments have been in place.

government workers pay tax just like everyone else. it's the policians who collectively decide how much funding departments get.

since wages are always the largest cost of doing business, poor funding means less workers. less workers means government employees must work harder and longer to meet public demand - doing the job of 2 or 3 workers for the wage of just 1.

lack of funding and lack of staff results in poor service. but poor service is often misconstrued as being the result of laziness - this is rarely the case.

since taxes and interest rates directly affect the amount of money available to fund government services and departments, insufficient funding is the fault of a poor economy.
