well its in a cancer hospital may be lab i dont know

It's a branch of the lab...."Hematology". It's the part of the lab that does all the microscopic blood work, cell counts, and other tests. If it were the word "HEME" it would stand for blood.
But being it's "HEMO" it's a department of the lab called Hematology.

If you mean hemo- it is something related with blood for example hemodialysis, hemolyzed,etc.
If it is in cancer hospital, is it not CHEMO? If that the case that means- chemotherapy which means using chemical substances (drugs or medicines) to treat the disease.In its modern-day use, it refers primarily to drugs used to treat cancer.

Hem - hema, hemo, hemat/o, prefix denoting Blood. For example hemetogenesis - formation of, hemophobia - fear of. etc.,

form US spelling of HAEMO.
