I set some apples I peeled and diced out for my son for snack time today after he got up from his nap. He only had a few bites and he was done. Then we went to the playground, did some shopping, came back, and had dinner. It's been about 4 hours and I have noticed that he just finished eating the remaining apples that were left out. Now I'm curious to know if he'll get an upset tummy or possibly food poisoning. Can anyone tell me if the apples were okay to eat? They weren't in any sunlight, and the room stays at about 76 degrees. Thanks!

By itself the apple will not go bad in that short amount of time. Even the day after you could still eat it.

What could be bad is flies, dirty fingers that contaminated the food.

I would not worry about it. Most kids eat more disgusting stuff by just putting their fingers in their mouths than could ever be on 100 of those apples. Don't worry.
