Cymbalta is an antidepressant drug. It is used to treat major depression, but probably has many off label uses like in the treatment of bipolar depression. Bipolar depression has few antidepressants that are official approved for treatment because that approval takes valuable time and money away from drug companies, but many doctors prescribe antidepressants in addition to a mood stabilizer anyways. As for schizophrenia, it is common for people who suffer from schizophrenia to experience depression especially after a psychotic episode, so antidepressants can be used.

I would look on the net Cymbalta and then look up bipolar and schizophrenia.

Most importantly, go visit a doctor who can advise you.

I think its an anti-depressant. Lithium is usually used for bipolar, and anti-psychotics for schizo, but of course, most schizophrenics and bipolars suffer depression, so it probably is used along with other drugs, to help the other symptoms.
