In online police stories or on TV police reality shows, apprehended male suspects are often not wearing shirts - do police remove them? are the bulk of crimes commited in warmer climes?

You are right, I see that a lot too. I can say from experience that it's not that way all the time in the field, except in a certain subset of folks. Most of them are what you would call rednecks, and their houses have wheels under them. Nothing wrong with that, but I seem to run into them there more than anywhere else. I prefer for anyone I run in to have a shirt on. They smell less, and make handy spit stoppers when pulled over some idiots face if the arrestee is inclined to do so. Any cop on here knows what I mean.

Now that's a hoot of a question. My wife walked in the other night and cops was on, and she asked the same thing, "don't any of these people own shirts?"

Now I'm just an average ordinary guy, and my body isn't too bad for an almost 60 year old (I can look straight down and see if my shoes are tied) but other than when I'm getting a shower or getting romantic with my wife, I wear a frickin' shirt, for cryin' out loud.

I guess it must be a cultural thing, or a lack of culture thing, or maybe after buying beer, they don't have any money left for shirts. These guys need either a shirt, or an exercise program.

the majority of people you see on cops are the ones the police must chase down and catch. In the ensuing fight, the shirt is usually lost, or the suspect ditched it before getting tackled. Maybe they think by losing that little bit of weight, they will run faster and be more aerodynamic. I agree I see a lot of that too, but you have to remember, "COPS" chooses to show the most entertaining footage, not necessarily what really goes on in police work.

Honestly it makes for good TV. You never see a routine traffic stop where the person just accepts the ticket and drives home. It's always the drunk guy with no shirt that just beat his wife that makes it on tv. The real question here is why do these people sign the release to be on national tv like that....

well if its an outfit that most defintaly CANT be mixed and matched to create something new, i wait two weeks. other wise, you can wear an piece of clothing once a week if you put it with other pieces. but when it comes to jeans, ill be perfectly honest, i have like 3 pairs that i actually wear. and i wear them CONSTANTLY. i wear jeans almost everyday so basically every three days im wearing the same pair of jeans again. but its jeans, no one pays that much attention or is gonna actually notice the wash of your jeans and check back to see when you wear that exact pair again. BUT if the jean has lets say, flowers sequinned up the side, wait two weeks before you wear them again. oh and for the record, ive had the same problem and same question stuck in my head before. i didnt have many clothes, or much of a style so i had a few pieces that i wore constantly. im talking, twice in the same week. save some money, buy some magizines, decide on a style that will fit you and then go out buy some of what you see and like!!! =] its all good.

I wondered the same thing, it always seems like it is some really drunk guy, and he is not wearing a shirt. Maybe it is really hot, but I can't relate...I have had a few drinks on occasion as other people in my neighborhood have, but I never see anyone walking around without a shirt, and the cops arresting them.

Some police officers remove the shirts of suspects when searching them. The simple answer is probably because the Director and Scripwriter of these shows are imbeciles.

Never watched the show. It glamorizes evil cowards, I mean the cops. It's also really stupid. Try the History Chanel or A&E. They do shows about the real criminals, crooked cops that got caught.
Actually some of my friends do watch and gave white T-shirts the name wife beater shirts because that was being worn by the guy in domestic calls. That is also how come we call Budweiser in a can wife beater beer.

This is cause the shows want ratings.
